Bookends of Beauty, Photo from Hell
Today was a day of beauty. As I drove out of town to work this morning I was lit by the brilliant sunrise casting shades of amber around with frenzied generosity. Everything look so ready to become a page on a calendar the colors were so vivid. I make a hard right and my rear view mirror was filled with an enormous ball of color, the sun. What a way to start the day almost like God was blessing it in advance.
Nothing much happened in work that was of note but I had an after work experience awaiting me.
New Jersey renews drivers licenses every three years and mine was due. I wanted another photo license so I had to go to a Motor Vehicle Office to have the picture taken and attached. NJ had also recently privatized the department so I expected the worst. The place was packed with people of every description. Pleasantly though the lines were long but they moved quickly . The workers were busy but helpful and not at all rude. Even the people in line were friendly and cheerful Rude was a state I expected because of past dealings here but I was wrong. The only problem is the photo that AOL would call a thumbnail. It is awful. I am a pleasant looking man of good grooming and a warm smile. In the picture I look like something that would be used to scare teenagers, never mind children. If I did not need the ID for my Bermuda Cruise I would burn it and get a plain paper one in its place. I hope that the Customs Inspectors will allow me to re-enter the U S when we return.
Coming back from the D.M.V. I drove straight into a full moon that was grinning down at me and laughing about my picture. The moon was hanging over the ocean just like last night and lit up the area. This has to be a day to remember because of the bookends of beauty.
