A RESOURCE DELIVERS

When I left my daughter’s home Sunday after baby-sitting I forgot a book I had been reading. After work tonight I called her and told her I was coming by for the book. I heard that slight pause and then came the pitch. “You can be a lifesaver if you don’t mind. I promised the kids Burger King and I have to get tights on Kati and Laura……..” No way I could say no so off I went to Burger King to get the order. A late book in my library is either five or ten cents per diem depending on how new the book. Somehow this book cost me $11.00 and I have not quite figured how this happened. I once heard my daughter describe me to one of her friends as a resource. I think I will become a dwindling natural resource. I like to think that the Grandkids were happy to see me and not the dinners but that might be conceit.

Work today and yesterday was stressful due to weather problems. I run a Trucking Company so the snow storms in the East have taken their toll on the schedule we try to keep.

Despite the work problems I had a really nice day and evening. After dinner I sat around with my wife in our friendly rivalry of picking the N.C.A.A. Basketball Tournament winners for the pool we enter yearly. Last year I was almost murdered by her over the picks. As a joke I had copied her picks over onto my sheet and said they were my picks. When she saw that they were a duplicate of her picks on the entry form she was ready to murder me. We could never have the same choices in a pool. Unfortunately I gave it away by being unable to maintain a straight face. We play in a pool of my son-in-laws company, a large Insurance company. This strikes me as humorous that this enormous company and its gigantic computer are keeping track of basketball picks . Still I guess this is why computers were invented.

I am concerned about a friend who has been suffering about a week with a kidney area pain. Ultrasound ruled out stones so further tests are in order. Chronic severe pain has a detrimental effect on everyone and I hope she finds out the cause and the solution soon. Nothing I can do but pray and I will do that. I hate seeing someone so young going through a period like this and without knowing the cause.

85% is pretty doggone good for people like us. One of the guys I work with tried to get me in one of those pools, but I don’t follow baskeball — too confusing. Good luck! Living Lightly
