We all want one more morning…
… one more song I can sing
My Mom. {{{{{{hugs on my mom that i am not allowed to do}}}}}}
My Mom. She is amazing. She has severe dementia and this Covid thing has made it worse. Today (only because I have not yet gone to bed) is Saturday, and I believe that a lot of fast-moving parts are about to have to happen to all of us. Orchestrated by me. Because I have to.
I have spent all of Friday and Saturday doing internet and calling research and have found the path that I need to inquire into. I have arranged with my sister and all of our children for a Zoom family meeting so that we can all get to the same page I am on.
Mom now needs full care (nursing home level) plus Memory Care and also we need to apply to get her on Medicaid. We are lucky enough to have a tiny cash cushion for her due to an inherited natural gas royalty that we found out about a few years ago, so I also need to contact lawyers to see what we need to do about that. (Please do not panic – we will buy those rights from her – most of the family are not idiots.)
Mom has been decribed to me as having “no initiation.” And also they are begging her to eat two bites per meal.
There is also the question of where she will live her final Covid-nursing-home days. Here near me just north of Houston, or nearer to my sister in south Fort Worth? Great question! We will all give our opinions on Monday (or Tuesday) via zoom.

So here are Steve Winwood’s very wise words:
In the sky, light is coming, so glad we all have this day
We all want one more morning just to know the night won’t stay
Lift my eyes to the dawning to see the life start again
Just to see one more morning, just to feel it all begin
Just to have this day and life starting all over, for all it may bring
A blessing on everything and one more song I can sing
We all want one more morning just to know the night won’t stay
Lift my eyes to the dawning to see the life start again
Just to see one more morning, just to feel it all begin
Just to have this day and life starting all over, for all it may bring
A blessing on everything and one more song I can sing
One more day, one more memory, one more link in the chain
We all want one more morning just to feel it all again
Just to have this day and life starting all over, for all it may bring
A blessing on everything and one more song I can sing
In the arms we were born in, in the arms that will take us home
We all want one more morning, then we’ll take the night to come
We all want one more morning just to feel it all again
Just to have this day and life starting all over, for all it may bring
A blessing on everything and one more song I can sing
In the arms we were born in, in the arms that will take us home
We all want one more morning, then we’ll take the night to come
