Pre-Post Christmas Chat

Talked to my sister for over an hour tonight (wed) about our mom, our families, and her upcoming trip. She is sounding really excited about the trip and the fellowship with the other ladies she likes who are going, so I think this will be really good for her. I don’t think she sounds like she is focused at all on the “missionary” aspect of the trip other than just showing her own excitement for her faith through her gift of singing.

I had a lovely chat with Middleson on Christmas Eve. He was still in California. He called as the ship was fueling up for the (we hope) true departure for Hawaii. They had to help (since they were in the area) with an official mission (I hear drug bust) and that made them have to delay their trip “home”. The officers on the crew who have families in Hawaii who are waiting Christmas celebrations are pushing to get this show on the road!

And I would like to add one tiny explanation about my sister’s missionary trip. I do NOT want to discuss it, because I am a Christian who has an active real relationship with God. My sister is going to try to take her version of Jesus to Orthodox Christians in Europe. I do not agree with this plan, but I also have an active real relationship with my sister.

Hubby and I have enjoyed gatherings at dear friends’ homes over the evenings of Christmas eve and Christmas this year, but we have yet to see any gifts unwrapped so far this year. We are waiting to celebrate Christmas this weekend with our parents, siblings, and our daughters. Our son (at sea with the Coast Guard) and son-in-law (busy with intensive care rotation in 2nd year internal medicine residency) will not be with us this weekend as we celebrate our Christmas gathering. It just worked out best for us to have our 2 (TWO, now) married daughters spend Christmas day with their in-laws this year so that we can have them both for the whole next weekend and through New Years’ Day.

I am going to have so much fun!!! Games, family, food, & love!
