my favorite jazz music

I was so lucky again tonight because I got to attend a wonderful live jazz concert, with awesome musicians, all of whom I was very familiar with. (The BEST!)

I have been so depressed lately, but this just takes me out of that depression immediately, and so hard and fully that I almost don’t even recognize myself. Or rather, the excitement I muster regarding jazz music is the only thing that feels positive and real and, well, “really me”. I laughed at myself tonight, as I disregarded what I “know” I should have prioritized, and obviously didn’t, and I just didn’t slap myself around about it at all!

Tonight was the high school homecoming dance, and it is the first one my Youngest has attended. She looked completely lovely, and we were dressed (her for the dance and us for the concert) as we headed to the house where the pre-dance pictures were to be taken. I was so excited and focused on the jazz that I FORGOT TO BRING THE CAMERA! I chatted with the other moms and asked for copies, etc, (and I could see that no one there was the photographer that I am, so yes, it panged me a bit), but hey, I had the tickets for my friends and me to go to this concert, so I didn’t fret too much.

Don’t yell at me! I know I screwed up! This is just another example of how out of my element I am these days…

Youngest wasn’t mad, she just didn’t want us wasting time going back for the camera. So I had to let it go…

(not my forte — letting things go)

So we left Y as planned, ready to be delivered to the rest of her evening. Meanwhile, our Jr son was picking up his buddy and arriving at a home near ours to have the anti-homecoming video-game party. Everyone is settled, or at least connected to my cell phone, so …

WE HEARD EUGE GROOVE, MARK ANTOINE, WARREN HILL, and JEFF GOLUB perform tonight with RANDY JACOBS as “backup” (as if you could call him that) and some other great guys as well.

All I can say is that the music lifted me up AGAIN to a place that inspires me to be a better person.

More on that later (we’ll see how that goes),

That’s cool… I so love Jazz!

OK, I should check this first, before I note, but… Is Jeff Golub the guy that does the jazz books for kids? Jazz Fly, ie? I adore those.

Oh nuts. That’ll teach me. “Matthew Gollub”, not Jeff Golub. Move along, folks. Nothing to see here.

I’ve never heard of those musicians so I guess you could say I’m not into jazz! 🙂 But I’m so glad you had such a good, uplifting time! Sorry you’ve been depressed lately 🙁
