IM letter to my soph college gal…
We had family [OLD] movie night tonight..Soylent Green. 1973. Dad and I had seen it originally (or soon thereafter) and not since, so we did not know if it would still be “good”. I know that we have tortured you with old movies that didn’t work, but this one actually did, even though it is sci fi ! You would like it if you rented it. Or I could re-rent it from netflix when you will be home if you want me to.
But as i on the one hand was enjoying the movie all over again with the fresh SURPRISE that it was still a good movie by “TODAY”‘s standards, I fought stupidly with Youngest to make her SHUT UP and just watch the movie.
Story of my life. plus as i watched this movie for the first time in 31 years, I got caught up in it again, as did MS & Hubby & Youngest — only she wouldn’t stop commenting!

bender: that’s right! i’m sober and crazy and i dunno what i might do!
Wasn’t that Edward G. Robinson’s last film? I remember really liking his character, and it’s been a very long time since I’ve seen it, too, but probably on TV in the past 20 years. With a smile…

RYNRMN: Yes, after I left the note, I zipped over to IMDB to check. He was always one of my favourite actors. And I liked Charlton Heston before he became such a yahoo. With a smile…Torin
