I am about to get our next great dog

I feel it.  We had to put our last dog down in May.  She was not our favorite dog, but she was ours.  It made Keith and I dog-less for the first time in over 30 years.  We have had cats come and go, but dogs are more of our thing.

Replacing this void has been slow for a number of reasons.

I have cancer.  Don’t worry about that, because I am not (worried) — because I have the very best doctors blasting me with all of the shit. “It was only 1 mm in size, but very aggressive, so we can’t be sure that it has not already jumped.”  I also have a friend and family base that is unbelievably amazing!

I drive from Houston to Dallas fairly often to take my Mom to doctor appointments for her cancer.  Not to mention her dementia.  Which I am also in charge of her medical and financial stuff (with my Sister of course).  Driving tomorrow, in fact, to take her to the doctor on Tuesday.  Plus I get to see my grandkids!

After Mom’s doctor visit plus infusion on Tuesday, I will drive back home to Houston to move stuff out of our bedroom and closets so that the carpet people can replace the carpet on Thursday.  This is the first (well the second if you count and you should) massive clean-out of the clutter Keith and I have been doing of our more-than-20-year-build-up that has been going on in that area.  It has been emotionally exhausting for me, as the primary hoarder.

Heavy breath here.  Sigh.  Another sigh.  And after this is over, a new dog!

Yay for the new dog! What will you name him/her?
