POEM (064) Severed branch
Severed branch
Raise your brow, raise your eyes,
lift your head, stumped with lies,
raise your words, raise your voice,
set fire on the earth of your verse.
Building thunder under the skin,
bolts shuddering jolts desire to win,
raging inside those darkened slits,
poison from vile drowning lips.
Hurricane whip up the frenzy,
man to woman, sitting on lazy,
start a buried war, always digging up the ground,
forcing the crashing, tumbling, structures around.
Raise your brow, lift the eyes,
damn those words, full of lies,
strengthen the words, raise your voice,
raise a fist to a woman, screaming noise.
Fired both sides, grappling tight,
holding the bruise for fear of fight,
addiction crushing bones,
the collapsing of homes.
Raise your voice, you dare,
raise your fist, you dared,
the “protective” so called brother,
cut our ties as you dare harm my mother!
Your verses are always loaded with adventure. I love that about your right because it leaves the reader in suspense and wanting to know what’s gonna happen next.
