After Sally
I’m in an odd state of mind today. It’s beautiful outside; sunny and warm and wonderful, and I should probably get out and do something. It doesn’t have to be productive, just enjoyable. I think I’ll do that in a bit. It’s only 9:00 a.m., and I have time to move the story along a bit.

Outside the restaurant, the group from Cancable had moved along from Sally’s fortune telling lamp post.
"How’d she know about the job offer, Sam?" asked Brenda, the girl whose fortune Sally had read.
"Who knows?" Sam shrugged. "Maybe that’s the sign I’ve been waiting for. Maybe I should stay where I am. I like the night shift."
"You’d give up a three grand a year raise on the word of a crazy bag lady? Maybe you should follow her home and move in. You’re just as crazy!" Darren shook his head.
Sam laughed, feeling a little self-conscious. He knew Darren was right, but he didn’t want the new job and having to get up at six in the morning. He enjoyed going out to supper, hanging out and then going to work from eleven to seven. It suited his internal clock, and although the money looked better, it might just be enough to put him in a different tax bracket and mean less take-home pay on each cheque. He’d be better off in more ways than one to stay where he was. Crazy Sally’s crazy prophesy was just an excuse to tip the scales in favour of his personal preference.
"Crazy Sally’s been right before," he said. "And I didn’t listen. This time, I’m going to!" He laughed aloud.
"Well, I have plans for a romantic picnic in the park," said Brenda. "And I’m going, Crazy Sally or no."
"Ooooooooo. Romance in the park!" Chantal teased. "Anyone we know?"
Brenda smiled a Mona Lisa smile. "I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow night. Come on. Let’s go check out the new DVD releases before we go to work."
They went into the video store, Crazy Sally’s warning mostly forgotten.

I’ve got to make a cast of characters list for myself and get to know some of these people better. It’ll make the continuation of the existing story easier, if I can refer quickly to who’s who and how they relate to each other. Mind you, some characters are here and gone real damn quick, aren’t they?
