Somos Dos Silencios
WE TWO SILENCES (1929)
Evaristo Ribera Chevremont
We two silences
in one, single spirit.
We two silences
weaving its rhythms.
You are in my shadow
within myself,
and you are in my shadow
profound heartbeats.
I am sorry, for my flesh,
flows in your fluids
because I am one
with me and with you.
You can be a bird,
because I am a nest.
We two silences
of clear sound,
two sounds made
of flesh and spirit.
We two silences,
two timid silences,
two pure silences
that have been confused.
We two silences
that have become a hymn,
a hymn we cannot hear
with external ears.
You can be a bird,
because I am a nest.
We two silences,
two clear violins
that, in the moon’s innocence,
dissolve their rhythms.
We two silences
that have been confused:
we are radiant
infinite silence.
Who will have the secret
of our two threads?
Who will be able to pluck us?
Who will be able to measure us?
You can be a bird,
because I am a nest.
