busy weekend for me

Ever had ‘one of those weekends’?

I’ll just tell you what happened, will i?

Friday morning i teach up at a college. it’s about an hour and a half drive from my house north into a beautiful coastal town, and i love it, but it can be hard work. Friday evening i had a gig with the 11-piece band i sing with. It was quite a weird one, we had to contend with a new device in the pub which cuts out the power if the noise exceeds 136 decibels. And we do. Often. So it was a contained gig to say the least. However, that does make it eaiser for me espcially as a lwoer voiced male trying to sing Robbie Williams ‘Let Me Entertain You’ and Ricky Martin ‘Livin La Vida Loca’. Either way, that was Friday, up at 6, home at 1am.

Saturday was equally bizarre, up at 7am to go meet some minister from local church who was completing a walk, and myself and a friend walked the last part with him. No problem, except when you are dressed as St Andrew in a long robe and sandals that tear your stupid feet with every step. It hurt! Saturday evening i went across to see friends in an amateur show and enjoyed every minute, as well as delicious dinner with my delicious girlfriend. And once again, up at 7am, bed at 2am.

Sunday, up at 6am to ‘complete’ a triathlon with the team from the musical, it was a fundraiser where we travelled the distance from my home town to Edinburgh (Festival) and back, by running, cycling, and swimming. Fun, but tiring. Especially when i then had to drive the 284 miles to Edinburgh for several meetings.

If you haven’t been to Edinburgh before, allow me to let you know how it’s a wonderful, vibrant, beautiful city, but there’s not a flat road in it, everything is hills. And everywhere feels like it’s uphill.

So after HOURS of walking, meeting sponsors, and sorting technical issues for the Fringe, we drove home. Got home at 1am.

It’s been interesting. i slept pretty much all day Monday. I’ll tell you about Tuesday soon. It was also an unusual day.

Ever had ‘one of those weekends’? let me know.
