OWIES!
My Family!
So my ears are plugged, and I am feeling a wee bit sniffly, but I am drinking OJ like its water, and doing everything I can not to give in to this stupid cold! 🙂 I don’t feel like getting sick and miserable. This weekend is all about me. I’m going to do ear candles, and watch Are you Afraid of the Dark……we’re gonna do manicures, pedicures, and facials. Its gonna be fanstastic, and we’re gonna have a blast. Just me, mommy, and Angela. I’m NOT taking the baby this weekend. (she has already tried to call, but I haven’t returned her call yet) I just need a weeknd off, a weekend to myself. Hell, I need a weekend to unpack!!! Im still working on it. I dug into my boxes to find my glasses the other day, because my contacts were irritating my eyes something awful.
I have a highly stressful job, and am often dealing with stress and anxiety in SPADES!! !I deal with it rather well usually, and manage to keep myself always well grounded. Its not easy, and sometimes takes some doing, but I read an article in a amagazine this morning on my way to work that I wanted to share. I didn’t know it, but I’m actually DOING what it says in this magazine to do to beat anxiety.
5 easy ways to beat Anxiety
1. Soothe nerves with a multivitamin
Taking one a day ensures your getting all the B vitamins you need, which is important : Stress zaps the body’s stores of B’s which can leave you feeling even more on-edge since studies say B vitamins are crucial for keeping the nervous system in tip top shape.
(I do this….I take a kickass multivitamin 3 times a day…..it helps more than I could ever describe..not just stress but it makes me feel all around better)
2. Balance your Brain by Walking
Excercising for 30 mins daily keeps mood-balancing chemicals circulating, which is key to reducing the likelyhood and frequency of panic attacks in people who are prone to them.
(In addition to my 3x weekly curves workouts, I take my dog for a niiiiice long walk every morning. This walk makes me start my day on a high note, and allows my body to fully wake up before being thrown into the daily grind)
3. Let a cat calm you down
A recent study found that feline companionship is so comforting, it sends anxiety plunging low enough to reduce your heart attack risk by 33%!
(Especially a purring cat! I have told people that for years, but nooooooo nobody listens to me! This is why I could never live in an either or household. I need my cat, and my dog to reduce my stress. lol My dog is more like a cat, and my cat is more like a dog, so its actually the opposite that relaxes me.)
4. Distract yourself fwith Positive thoughts~
Counter worry by repeating a phrase—such as "I am safe!" Several times for one minute. Affirmations are proven to trigger changes in the brain that quell fears.
(I am the QUEEN of positive thinking. I can positive think myself into happiness anytime I want to. If I am scared, I just tell myself over and over, it will be ok…and it is!!! I have always always always done this, and look…now they are realizing it works!!)
5. Tighten up to help release tension
Getting Anxious? Close your eyes, take a deep breath, scrunch up your toes, hold for three counts, exhale slowly, and release. Repeat with each body part
(Ok, anyone who has ever had a tension headache knows this lovely cure!!! And if you get tension migranes as often as I do, you learn that either tightening up, or bashing your head against the wall are seriously the only relief you are gonna get. I do alot of the head bashing in private, but when I am in public, close off each part of your body as tightly as you can, and almost throb yourself….and that will release the tension, and give you your life back1! )
Ok, hope that helps you guys out!! I should have written this article myself. That just amuses me so much, that what they wrote about, was things I already do! Just gotta keep life on an even keel.
My horoscope today, made me giggle a bit.
Your horoscope for September 17, 2008
Reward yourself with 2 desserts today, Kristin . Take a bubble bath and paint your fingernails. Share your wild fantasies with others and express yourself fully. Don’t feel like you have to say, "yes" to every favor that is asked of you. Save some of that nurturing energy for yourself. Feel free to help out others in need, but don’t do it at the expense of your own emotional and physical bank account.
That’s gonna be my WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today is stressful wednesday…..no pampering today.
Will write more later, but for now….ORANGE JUICE!!!!
