Rising From The Dead
Here lies Maestro’s diary.
In a grave Maestro dug for it with his own two hands.
Let it be noted: he dug it begrudgingly.
Maestro’s life…is an interesting thing. Ever changing. So frequently remaining the same. To his credit, our hero’s life makes for a superb diary. But unfortunately, it is often the case that Maestro is so busy keeping his life so worthy of writing about…that there is never any time to write about it.
He regrets not having a written account of so many of his adventures. He would indeed like to look back and remember them. Our hero is dreadfully incapable of keeping up diaries, I suppose. He tried a hand written one once upon a time…
That failed.
This one…admittedly has lasted a good amount of time. 150 entries or so – not bad by any means.
I’ve loved writing these accounts of Maestro’s life, and Maestro has delighted in seeing what people have had to say about his comings and goings.
This really is something Maestro wants to exist. It is too bad that the effort hasn’t really been put forth to keep this from going extinct.
And now the difficulty has increased tenfold. For as it is, nobody has a clue what is new with our hero.
And in order to update his audience…it would take the strength of 10 entries!!
Plus 2.
And obviously I am not going to grace you with that great a magnitude of letters and punctuation marks. As if I have nothing better to do…
So, in light of that…How about I just write as if you DID know what was going on? Youd like that wouldnt you? Having Maestros life shoved down your throat without warning.
Well then, open wide.
So it is a sunny Sunday night in October and…what?
A sunny night?
Ugh.
Anyway, it WAS a sunny DAY. But surprisingly enough, our hero did not want this.
Allow me to explain.
The day is Saturday. The weather – grim. And perfect. Maestro walks about the woods, video camera in hand. His mate Sam walks about too, sometimes running. But that is for the movie. Their mate Ian is there too, as the, um…assistance gaffer?
The guy who does every mundane chore they tell him to do, essentially. Ha. Poor Ian. But they love him.
So anyway. The sky is shrouded in clouds and it is raining, with no end in sight. Perfect conditions in which to film a Halloween movie, don’t you think? Maestro did. The wind blew and the temperature dropped. The filming lasted all day, until both our hero and his mate Sam had to go to work. The weather did a number on Sam, who is now ill. Maestro feels a great deal of guilt about that, for this it not the first time Sam endured incredibly unsafe conditions for a film. But it is, admittedly, always Sam’s choice.
Anyway…once the time came that Maestro and Sam had to go to A. C. Moore and Little Caesar’s, respectively, the filming had to be delayed temporarily. Did you know our hero works at A. C. Moore (Nobody does arts, crafts, and florals better!) now? Well he does. He started working there the second day of school. So – speaking of which, there was some drama at work on Saturday.
A group of like 10 people who Maestro could loosely call his friends came into the store and surrounded him as he worked and just talked to him, which is perfectly alright…But our hero is supposed to be working, not standing around talking to people. Well, Maestro kept working…and talking at the same time. He politely asked them to go on their way so that he wouldn’t get in trouble. Eventually they left. And inevitably, Maestro was called back to the office by his boss and he chewed him out for spending too much time talking to his friends and not working. Ugh. Our hero tried to get them to leave…he knew he’d get in trouble…
Just a note – if you are really Maestro’s friend, you’ll know when not to risk getting him fired!
Anyway…then after all those people had left, almost immediately Maestro’s friend Katrina showed up. Anymore, he really only sees her when she visits him at work, so our hero was happy to see her. She just kinda stopped by to say hi, but she wanted a hug, and Maestro has never been one to pass up a hug…but he was a bit paranoid at this point. Regardless, he gave her a big hug and sure enough his boss walked by right then and flashed him a look. Ah well…it was worth it I suppose. Katrina is a cool kat. Get it? Anyone? Kat? Cause her name’s Katrina……
*pulls out gun and aims it at head*
Ugh.
Moving on.
Our hero woke up at 8 am the next morning and soon Sam arrived at his house and they both went to Ian’s and picked him up, and then finally they all went to the woods and continued filming the movie.
Now, it should be noted that Maestro is playing the zombie in this film. This came to mean that he was buried alive in mulch for one scene in which he rises from a grave. And because our hero likes to get things perfect, as does his partner Sam, the shot was done about 5 times.
Ergo, Maestro was buried alive about 5 separate times. And let me tell you – it is very difficult for even Maestro to breathe under a layer of mulch while wearing a latex zombie mask. You should try it sometime though. Tis fun.
So today’s filming was predominantly done of Maestro, by Sam…which is the opposite case of Yesterday. Also, today it was not raining. But it was still cloudy and this all takes place in the woods, so nobody will be able to tell the difference on film anyway.
By the time filming had to be put to a halt again due to Maestro’s job, the sun had come out full throttle and they really would not have been able to get fitting shots anyway. Work was not particularly exciting (it never really is), although Maestro did have an interesting conversation with his coworker Andy, who our hero doesn’t have the privilege of working with very often. That was a good time.
*interjects* You know, before all of this happened…there was Friday. I didn’t tell you about Friday. After school Maestro, Sam (Moodey, his partner in film making), Ian, Sam (Dzuricky, another friend named Sam), and Chris all went to our hero’s humble abode. They had every intention of working on the movie I mentioned earlier. But it turned out to be too dark, and there wasn’t enough of a plan for how it was going to be made yet. So that fell through and everyone ended up watching movies and episodes of The Office (UK version, of course)…along with eating pizza and wings…and talking to Maestro’s older brother from college who was visiting for the weekend. Everyone determined they would all wake up early the next morning and film the movie. It had to be early in the morning because Sam (Dzuricky) was going to play a character and he had to leave before noon.
Now…let us be logical.
When have you known a group of teenagers to wake up early in the morning…after an all nighter…and get straight to work on something?
It doesn’t happen.
Needless to say everyone slept in and that plan fell to pieces. Plus it was raining and everyone figured they couldn’t film in the rain.
Well, they were wrong. Once Sam (Dzuricky) and Chris left (at about noon), Maestro, Sam (Moodey) and Ian went straight to work. They changed the plot of the film, making it so that it no longerneeded Sam (Dzuricky)’s character…which turned out to improve the plot. Also, the rainy weather, although it made Sam (Moodey)sick, turned out to greatly improve the mood of the film, rather than hinder the production.
Crazy how everything all works out in the end, huh?
So…that is what is new in our hero’s life. Just like the zombie rose from the grave in Maestro’s film, this diary has (for no apparent reason) risen from its grave as well…for now. We shall see what happens as time goes by. So until I actually do save the world from chronic ignoring of diaries and the treacherous conditions film makers face in order to create their art…
The Universe Can Wait
Putting off homework again, eh? Welcome back, comrade.

Yay, you didn’t leave! 🙂 And what a fun entry! Filming and silly casual friends getting you in trouble at work. I waited tables for a while and my friends often came in and begged me to sit down with them for a minute. Any time I gave in, the manager always came out of his office and gave me The Look. Very annoying.
