A New Voice

“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language
And next year’s words await another voice.”

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!

Luces de bengala, de mi México querido, y de mi niñez añorada

As a resolution, I wanted to really commit to post here daily, about ONE good, positive or negative thing I’m thankful about (or should be), but I don’t know that I’ll be able to keep that one, and that would be a ton of one-line entries…not sure how it would be received.  Maybe I’ll keep a private entry and update it daily, and make it public at the end of 2013.

In the meanwhile, I’m thankful for Pascal making it to Christmas – though it was nerve-excruciating to live one day at a time on that one, not knowing IF he’d make it. I’m further thankful that he’s even made it past the new year and I treasure every breath coming out of him.

That said, here are a few less cumbersome resolutions that I can share:

1.- I’m going off Weight Watchers; it’s nice but expensive, and after 10 months on it with really good results, I have the points calculator, the record-keeping weighing scale, and the food scale (and the food reference books and all). I can pretty much figure it out from there, and don’t need to pay $40+ a month to be able to do it online.  Thirty lbs. down, about 70 more to go to make me happy w/myself.

2.- Working hard to get a job, after losing mine to an oversensitive asshole who did tech support for my company FROM FUCKING OVERSEAS and complained when he greeted me with an islamic greeting and I reminded him about the fact that he worked for {nameofcompany} and not for Allah, and that he should answer the phone like the rest of us do. The fact that *I* found his advance offensive apparently is worth crap to my ex-company, who appears to want to appease any foreigner at any cost.

3.- Stop biting my nails.  Gonna try reeeeeeeeeeeeally hard. Not making any promises.

4.- Exercise, even if for one minute, but EVERY single day, no excuses.

5.- Sleep more and/or find why the hell I can’t sleep more than 2 or 3 hours a night.

6. – Join a dance class of some sort. Salsa sounds attractive.

7.- Rejoin the martial arts studio and get that elusive black belt already!

8.- Try to be more tolerant.  I’m very patient, but when someone hits the switch, there is no delay in the explosion.
