There was a Time
I’d almost forgotten how much I like being off on Sunday. I didn’t do anything today but watch about 25 episodes of Yuyu Hakusho.
I rented a movie a couple of nights ago I don’t think I’ve actually said anything about, and it was bloody awesome. Watch it if you get the chance– Crows Zero. It’s based on a popular (in Japan at least) manga I’d admittedly never heard of previously. Basically a bunch of Japanese high school students beat the snot out of each other for the sole purpose of conquest of their school, Suzuran High School for Boys. But it’s so much more than that. Rather than describe it, I simply demand it be watched by anybody who for whatever reason has taken my movie advice thus far. Oh yeah,it was also directed by Takashi Miike, director of the disturbingly violent Ichi the Killer and the over-the-top spaghetti-style Western Sukiyaki Western Django, both of which I’m very fond of. But I liked Crows Zero way more.
Sooooooo… I guess this is a short one. Too bad.
Jason refused to watch Sukiyaki with me. His loss. I thought it was great. Plus Tarantino was in it! I’ll definitely have to check out Crows Zero.

Crows Zero added to Netflix. I’ve had both Django and Sukiyaki Western Django on my queue for a while now.

RYN to a post on Superman’s diary – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukiyaki_Western_Django *Sukiyaki Western Django* is where it is. Forget the old “classic” – think Django but with updated lines, action sequences – and samurai swords. w00t.

Don’t listen to Hades. You should always honor the original that retellings are paying homage to. Scream is nothing without Halloween, Fri the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm St. Nolan’s Batman is nothing without Burton’s Batman which is nothing without West’s Batman, and they’re all nothing with out the decades of comics. Anything Tarentino relies on movies that came before. Respect elder movies.

That movies messed up. As Takashi Mikke usually is. HOpefully you haven’t seen VisitorQ because if you have I know you are scared for life and not fit for American society. Good luck.
