A Flash, Then Night

There is never as much traffic on the street
As when you are standing at the corner
Waiting to cross

One million cars
Whizzing by
Carrying millions on their way
To where ever
Without a care for anyone outside their window

You are a blur
Unrecognizable
Flying past the window
And just like that you’re gone

Out of sight out of mind
Only happens when you’re a blur
Sometimes there is a person who slows everything down
And makes you stop, and take notice

Boy or girl, young or old
Does not define this
Sometimes they just glow
In that instant, they radiate

Still in the blink of an eye
They disappear
You look back and they are gone
And you’re left with the memory of that moment

These moments drift in time
Hang in your soul
Their image, etched in your mind
You know, someday you will see them again

I don’t normally do this, but this is dedicated to my old friend, sameoldlife. You’ve inspired this, please consider this my small gift of condolence for your loss. Much like the way you are for me, your son is one of the people that slows time for the world. Take hold and treasure every moment, I know you will hang onto them forever.
