Because Why Not
Yesterday, last minute they fired a cook and asked me to stay and work … So I did. Which I kinda wanted but also means I didn’t get any housework done. Also, since they let the cook go, they need someone to cook on the weekend. I picked up Sunday because I have the walk on Saturday. It’s a 5:30-1:30 shift so hopefully after I get home and sit a minute I will be able to get everything else done. Maybe not everything. The cleaning or the packing.
So my Amy is officially taken over Dawn’s old job as medical records so soon I will be back to just reception-ing. She came down to get the calendars and I went over how to set up rides and such and about an hour later she brought them down saying “These are making me want to pull my hair out. You keep them for now.” She’ll get there. That’s how I felt when I first got them as well.
It’s Kimberly’s last day today, and I started tearing up as it was the last time we will ever count the safe together. Then she told me, that in her 20 years doing this job, I was the best receptionist she ever had, and that she hopes that the company realizes what they have in me.” Then I wanted to bawl, but someone else walked in and asked if I was going to be doing Kimberly’s job until they replace her and she was like NO! She has too much on her plate already. I laughed and told them I would help as much as I could.
Speaking of … That new receptionist didn’t make it to orientation … so I guess we have to keep looking for another. I literally shredded all the other resumes yesterday. Poops. I have them in an email somewhere.
I’m going to take a lunch today and run to the bank and pay my rent. My check was about 100 dollars more than I expected it to be, but it’s still going to be tight. I was really hoping to have a few extra bucks to go get a manicure or something – but I can have a good time in Vegas with my short chewed up nails.
I have a lot to get to this morning, so I will get to that and see if I am back around for the second leg of my shift.
I think for the amount of work you do for your job plus everyone else job they should be paying you their salaries too…..

Ah, so looks like you got the extra shifts your were hoping for.
It’s always nice when people appreciate the job that you’re doing. I think that doesn’t happen enough at jobs. Obviously, you must be doing something right over there.
And I am confused why someone would apply for a job and then not show up for it after they get hired? Very weird.
@heffay LAZY! Like the idea of a job but doesn’t want to do the work. Some people do it just so it looks good for unemployment so they can keep collecting.
@thelastdonut oh, I just remembered my sister had this problem. She does insurance billing and coding. She needed to hire people and people would just not show up or not call her back or whatever.
