I’ve been reading but not writing, as happens when I’m feeling particularly out of control of my life. I say this with a bit of wry resignation – I’m not upset currently, just tired. Things are pretty good, I will admit. 🙂
We’re getting ready for Halloween – Boo is going as Nut, the Egyptian Goddess of the sky. "Nut" is pronounced "noot", and here’s an artists representation of what she looks like:
As one might expect, we are making the costume ourselves. ‘Putting it together’ is more like it – we found an excellent tunic-length top that is blue, covered with stars. We’ve gotten navy blue leggings/pants, and then we were trying to figure out the Blue skin w/stars thing. We decided that to keep her warm, we would use Blue sparkly tights – cut to be armwarmers, if you will. She’ll wear her black & silver sneakers, and then we get into the accessories: Silver nail polish, silver eyeshadow, Long, Sparkly False Eyelashes with Rhinestones, Blue Greasepaint, and Silver & Gold Glitter Hairspray. 🙂 Yes, I will take pictures – Promise! Right now, I’m to figure out how to get Silver Stars on her face – what sort of makeup might do that. Maybe…Silver Eyeliner? Not sure.
I have to say, I was reading Joy’s journal, and her son Jacob is a KILLER Billy the Exterminator. ROCK ON, Joy & Jacob! 😉
Okay, Boo is ready for me to do her nails…then I need to get the silver fabric paint out and put stars on the blue leggings. Busy afternoon!! OH – can’t forget to get the squash on the stove, too. Lots to do, before the Farmer’s Market this afternoon. Thanks for hanging around, folks! 🙂
That costume is going to be great!

That’s funny that she’s going as Nut. Grace is going as Hatshepsut!

Awesome! Most times I see depictions of Nut that are like the second picture, but that first painting rocks!

You’ll probably be able to get tiny silver star stickers in a stationery shop.

I’m sorry that things seem out of control at the moment. Wishing you better days ahead. What a fun imaginative costume you’re creating together. I didn’t know about Nut, goddess of the sky. Awesome.
