Tagging your entries

We put a new thing on the front page today – it shows the most popular tags that are being used on entries right now – if you look on the front page you will see a section that says “Trending Tags”. If you haven’t tagged any entries yet, this is another way to indicate what they are about.

If you look down below – this entry is tagged “Toads”. If you click on that tag, you will go to a page showing all of the entries tagged Toads.

If you want to add a tag to your entry, at the bottom of the editing screen there is a space that says “Add your tags here”. If you click there and type a tag, it will appear in the space. Just make sure you press Enter after you type the tag to have the system accept it. The front page section shows the tags that have been used the most over the last three days.

That sounds fun! I wonder how many other toads entries there are 🙂 I like the trending aspect to help see what the popular topics of the day are 🙂

This is related to the search functionality but I also hope we get the chance to just find tags in our diary too so I can find all my book entries or all my travel entries, etc 🙂

Can other readers add me as a friend? And also at some point will you have the option to add spell check and color?

@jaythesmartone yes, anybody can add you as a friend, they just have to click the plus icon next to your name to send you a friend request, which you have to accept to be friends. We are assuming for spell check people are using whatever is built into their browser, so we are not adding one of our own.

I think you have a spam issue. Almost every entry on the front page are spam entries, so you guys might want to do something about it.

Another question…Is this site politically correct? and how many 4 letter words can I use before you get offeneded?

@jaythesmartone on your own diary, you can use as many swear words as you like – they will be filtered out and shown as “****” on the front page, but they will show as the words in your diary. There is a good description of what kind of language is and is not allowed in the OD Rules (link at the bottom of the page). As long as you follow that, you will be fine.
