STOP Using www.freeopendiary.com

No, that’s not some one-step rehabilitation program.

I see from our server logs that many of our members are still coming to the site by using the http://www.freeopendiary.com address.

I said this before, but let me repeat – since I merged Free Open Diary and Open Diary a while back, all of our diaries are now under http://www.opendiary.com. We are all Open Diary now, whether our diaries are free or paid – and Free Open Diary no longer exists.

Free Open Diary, otherwise known as Free OD, FOD, or other names unsuitable for print – has passed on, it is no more, it has ceased to be. That doesn’t mean that we no longer offer free diaries, or that our free service is going away. Free diaries will just exist on Open Diary, along with the paid Open Diary Plus diaries. We are all one big happy Open Diary family now.

As such, everybody should be using the http://www.opendiary.com address to access the site now. If you are still using http://www.freeopendiary.com, please stop – you will experience problems when travelling from page to page, and especially when using links within the site.

In a few days, I’m going to turn off the freeopendiary.com address, and redirect all of it’s traffic automatically to opendiary.com – but I thought I would give you all some warning first.

EDIT: I’m still getting confused notes about this – this doesn’t mean I’m going to move all the free diaries. I’ve already moved everything – that happened when the sites were combined weeks ago. All the free diaries and Plus diaries are together in one place now. Nothing else is going to be moved, and no free diaries are going to be erased. All I am saying is, if you have a free diary, please use http://www.opendiary.com – what you will see and what you will get is the exact same thing as if you used http://www.freeopendiary.com. Both addresses point to the same place now, not to two different places like they used to.

I don’t know how else to say this: it is all one site now, free and Plus combined.

my diary won’t let me change the font color, size, etc. with the toolbar in my write entry screen. also it doesn’t space anything when i use enter. is this an OD problem or something with my computer? thanks! Nicole

Ohh I changed my mind to delete my diary.. I won’t be deleting it anymore.

Is the /odplus.asp extension still valid, or must I expect to deal with the barrage of adware and subsequent hijacking of my browser by aggressive ads that non-paying customers are subject to?

Suggestion box: instead of redirecting FOD logons to the OD page, how about directing them to this entry? Then the people who are using the FOD page will be sure and see it and change their bookmarks.

Now I know that this is a weird question and I don’t know if it crops up in the “regular problems” but when I save an entry it doesn’t show on the “Latest Entries” page, nor can It be found in the “search for a diary” box. I deleted my diary and made a new one but the same thing happened, what am I doing wrong?

can you refer me to an entry you might have written explaining why we no longer have the “Block This User” option on the side menu?

Maybe this should be posted on the home page as not all people read the DiaryMaster diary (shame on them). You can’t just assume that because it was mentioned here, everyone automatically knows.

This is why I used the old address. Since I have my OD set to display Plus members only, my FOD wouldn’t show in a search, but the “goto” feature wouldn’t work either. Using the old address was the only way I could access it. I tried this morning BEFORE I logged into the paid OD and was able to get to it. Now I have it bookmarked (which I really didn’t want to do) and can access it once logged in.

Sorry people are stupid. Sometimes you just need to beat them over the head, although you’re way more patient than I would be. “Hey, moron! You! Yes, you who keeps using the wrong address and then complaining about the site not running efficiently! Quit being an asshat!” Ugh. I don’t know how you stand it.

Alright, I just typed in http://www.opendiary.com and it is telling me access denied…? I don’t know if it’s my schools server and if it is, why would it be blocked?

Hicks/Brian is back. Odd, considering that C10006 is supposedly deleted from the system, yet he can leave notes from that diary. He is also back as A103342. Why do you continue to allow this? People have been sanctioned for far lesser offenses here, yet this person is allowed to keep journals here with impunity.

Follow up. Go here:http://www.opendiary.com/entryview.asp?authorcode=C100016&entry=10052. You can see the note left by C100006. How can notes be left by a diary that suppoedly does not exist? Apparently the diary still does exis on the system, yet I can’t block it. When I try, system states that diary doesn’t exist. PLEASE look into this.

Thanks for your reply, B. Damn it, can this guy be that savvy to elude even you? Short answer – yes – I have seen notes from that diary around. Not recently, though: “comfortably numb”, “the godfather” and chuck (C100018). How does he do it? You mouseover and it points to C100006. How the hell does he do that if it doesn’t exist?? Thanks for your (continued) diligence.

Are you sure it has ceased to be? Are you certain it is an “Un-Diarysite”? Did you check the feet for nails? Did you bang it on a hard surface? It might be just resting… *ducks swinging right fist* *runs away*

Not on subject to this particular entry, but I’ve already tried other (email) means to get an answer to this: how do you get paragraphy breaks in opendiary. For the last two months, I can’t indent.

That is intereseting to hear we cant use free open diary. I have been using it and it has never told me I cant, but thanks for telling us about this. You did not say if it was okf or me to post any of your diary entereis into mine. I want to know so i dont have to ask everytime. I would like to let people know about this one ok.

It’s not necessarily a matter of stupidity you know. In many cases, like mine, it’s just lazy bookmark modifying.

I am ok as long as you don’t get rid of http://www.opendiaryplus.com because its the only way I can get to the site from work. Our system blocks me from using opendiary.com. 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving DM! 🙂

I would use the other url addy, but my main access to this site is at work, and freeopendiary.com is NOT blocked by my company but opendiary.com IS blocked. so i’d rather be able to access my diary than not…

Hundreds of people probably already mentioned this, but I know that for a while there, I was using the FOD address because it was the one in my bookmarks list. Maybe people are doing that? I had to go back and change all mine. Just a thought.

Well the confusion with that is, if it directs to one site, what’s the problem with them using FOD? If it just directs to the regular OD then they shouldn’t be “still on FOD, logging in using FOD” because you directed them towards OD…. I’m confused, but I also don’t care because I already made it a habit to go to http://www.opendiary.com a while back.
