Plus Diaries and Ads

You may have seen some goofy things happening with the site menus the last hour or so – this was the result of something I was working on, which is now completed.

I’ve changed the way ads are displayed on the system, so that now if you have a Plus diary, no ads (including popups) are displayed to anybody who reads the diary.

This means that if you have friends who read your Plus diary (who aren’t Plus members), they won’t see ads when they visit your diary. For instance, if you are a regular OD member, and you are reading my diary (which is a Plus diary), you won’t see any ads.

It also means that if you own a Plus diary and you come to OD to check your notes, and go to your diary without logging in, you still won’t see any ads.

This was one thing I hadn’t considered during the move to OD 4.0, but is necessary to give Plus members the same benefits they were enjoying before.

Hmmm… the “report a rules violation” doesn’t seem to be available for me. I wanted to alert you that a diary on my “read periodically” list has been compromised and hijacked. The name of the FOD is i_hate_myself and if you go look for yourself you will see the little flame war going on, and even an admission by the hi-jacker on the latest entry. Thanks.

thank you. now if i can just get xupiter off of my harddrive…. see i dont use this computer except for OD and FOD most of the time, and i recently wiped the mainframe and downloaded XP….

thanks for all your hard work on 4.0 and thanks again for adding note choices per entry. I emailed asking if it were possible to retrieve Kev’s old entries that I’m missing…2/00 to 11/01. I have the old diary #’s from FOD. Could you pls let me know if that’s possible. I’ve printed out his entries and sent them to his brother and would like to do the same with ones I’m missing. Thanks in advance

When will we get the benefit of being able to see our note history, just like before? Where did the NOTE HISTORY go??? 🙂

And, what was wrong with the site most of yesterday? It wouldn’t load or it would time out. Is Sunday-itis back on the schedule again?

I’m having issues with even getting the site to load :o( I go crazy without my OD.

Oh and by the way, did you know that the ads you do have on your site containe viruses. I found two last night that only come from this site. I thought you should know this. And 90% of them contain spyware, but that you probably already knew.

Thank you! I’m sure my sister will appreciate it. Although I’m still seeing some kind of funky double menu thing at the top of your diary. Don’t know what that means. Is the site acting sluggish lately? I don’t know if it’s the site, my ISP or my computer, but things are just crawling. Trying to eliminate possible causes.

When logged in with a Reader’s Password, I’m still seeing ads/pop-ups on the Diarist Profile page and the Calendar page.

also do you know why, when in IE6 with the text size view set to largest i see a second menu bar. print screen if you want but here is it described. below the menu entry, The Open Diary, there starts a secondary gray tool bar. It says Diary Notes Favorites Random. After Random the words in the gray bar are higher up and i cant read them. the word Random ends in the middle of fav
