PayPal added as payment option

This is a short one, so just a few things.

We’ve had a number of requests to add PayPal as an option for paying subscriptions – this is now complete, if you go to pay for a subscription you will now see options to pay directly by credit card (which is handled by Stripe, our credit card processor) or through PayPal. Either one will work equally well.

We’ve also had quite a few people ask WHERE they pay for a subscription – that can be found on the main menu if you click on Profile, and then click on Membership on the next screen. That will show you what your current membership is (and if you are on a free membership when it expires), and you will see a button to Upgrade your subscription. Clicking on that will take you to the payment options.

Is there a way for me to change my payment method to PayPal or will I need to let my current subscription run out and then get a new one?

@williamthebloody if you go to the Membership screen and first cancel your current subscription, you should get credit for what was remaining on that subscription – then just start a new one on PayPal. If that doesn’t work out right, let us know!

I use paypal for everything I do online, so I think this is a smart move.

Just one small teenie, tiny, minuscule request: The Politics Circle.

Come on man, it was the most fun, controversial and rowdy circle OD ever had. The circle page just doesn’t look the same without it.

@peter_24601 yeah, hmm – the level of discourse related to Politics is somewhat more ugly today than it was back in the day. Not saying we won’t do it, but I am saying it would take some convincing for me to believe it wouldn’t just be a big moderation problem 🙂

@thediarymaster I get where you’re coming from, but the people/diaries that made the politics circle the moderation problem it was are not here, so that alone will make it a lot more tamed down than it used to be. I think the circle is needed to fight that discourse and find common ground. Believe me, I missed OD and the Politics Circle during the 2016 Election, and especially during the primaries when I was feeling the Bern! I happen to think the Politics Circle is a privilege rather than a right. If things get too ugly, you can always remove pull the plug… but with the people currently writing here, I am confident we can play nice.
