Of Interest

We’ve been toying with the idea of doing Editor’s Choice here at OD+ – we always liked Editor’s Choice, but we also always felt somewhat constricted by it.

We’ve started a new feature today, called “Of Interest” – you can see it in the upper right corner of the front page.

One of the problems (for us) with Editor’s Choice was that we always felt pressured to produce an EC on a regular schedule, and we were always granting EC to an entire diary. Because of this, updating the Editor’s Choice became a huge chore, especially as Open Diary grew larger.

Here at OD+, I want to be a little more casual about it. I’m not going to promise any schedule, and rather than highlighting entire diaries, we are going to post individual entries that we have found fascinating or moving for whatever reason. This relieves us of the burden of reviewing entire diaries to come up with ECs, but lets us point out diaries and people that we think our readers might enjoy.

In any case, we’ll probably play around with the idea a little more over coming days – but that’s the gist of it. Enjoy!
