Notes By Person

Several of our diarists have reported that there has been a problem with the Notes By Person function not working correctly. After looking into this, we found that the function was working correctly – for notes that have been left here on the new site.

However, for notes that were left on the old site, and imported into diaries here, the function does not work. This is because the way our new notes are stored is actually different (and more efficient) than they were on Free OD. Although the notes from the old site and here look the same, they are actually quite different in our database.

The bottom line is that on this site, the notes by person function will never work with the notes that have been imported from Free OD – there is no way to make it work with that type of note.

What we have done to fix this is to exclude those imported notes from the Notes By Person screen. They will still appear in the Notes By Time and Notes By Entry screens, but you will only see notes from this site on Notes By Person. Please also note that the count of notes at the bottom of the screen will appear smaller when you are on Notes By Person (if you have imported notes). (whew!)
