More on Credit Cards and PayPal

Some more information on making subscription payments:
It seems that there are some people who would rather use PayPal than paying directly with a credit card – which is fine by me. PayPal also works better for some of our users outside the U.S., because it accepts a wider range of cards.
I’ve added back the PayPal option for payment, so now there are three options on the subscription screen – paying by credit card, paying using PayPal, or paying by mail with a money order or check. Now you can pay directly by credit card, or through PayPal – whichever you want.
Some other diarists expressed concern about the privacy of their credit card numbers using this new system. Your credit card number is never transmitted to us at OD – it remains only with the LinkPoint service, which is a trusted and secure credit card company. The only information that Open Diary receives about your order is the last four digits of the card number, the credit card approval code, your authorcode number (which identifies your diary), the amount of your order (one-year or six months), and your e-mail address (if you filled it in on the order screen). This way, your card information remains secure. Which is great, because you can never be too careful with that sort of thing.

paypal is the least secure and most unreliable online transaction ‘service’ it won’t be your fault when another teenage hacker breaks into paypal again and steals lots of credit card information, but you know that the complainer-diaries will blame you anyway, in a series of offended entries that they all nominate to readers choice.. good luck with that.

I tried renewing my OD subscription a little early, and I am getting a notice on the linkpoint page of: Form Processing Error The following errors occurred while processing your request: It is not possible to order from the store at this time. Contact the merchant for further information (error 1002).
