Extra Long Entries

For the last couple days, I have been making some adjustments to the database structure here on OD.

Some of you had reported problems with saving entries that were over 6,500 characters. This problem manifested itself with an error message or blank screen when trying to save an entry that was longer than 6,500 characters.

I’ve fixed the database inconsistency that was causing this, so it should no longer be a problem.

so, what is the max. char. limit now?

oh, also…when typing LONG entries it can take over an hour.. then *POOF* your entry that you have been laboring over disappears. Do you know sickening that is? I tell you, I have been on the brink of breakdown several times when I have lost entries because of the time constraint. Should I type in Word first if I know the entry will be long? Or can you extend the time out timing?

i can’t block people for some reason. i have no option. please block Hidden Agenda from my diary.

Hi DM- I may email you if I don’t heard back about this, but, for the last little while, only a small handful of my favorites list show as being updated, even when they have been. For instance, Nawlinsvamp and Scarlet Ibis – neither show as being updated, even though they have. Same problem for 3 consecutive days w/ Busywoman. Finally, she updated and it showed her as such…

just thought i would let ya know: i logged out and then saw an entry on the main page i wanted to read. normally those are all public diary entries that show. i went to read and it said no access to that diary. clicked all of them and it said that. shouldnt that mean they arent supposed to show on the main page if you have to be logged in to see them? just curious.

i got a popup [i’m pretty sure from this site] for the most annoying site and it GAVE ME A VIRUS. so if it was od that has them as a sponsor, please inform them of this.

just out of curiosity, why does the theme question page state that there are 180 entries, yet when I click on the 150-180 link I get an error?

Hi there. I have a problem which i’m not sure if it’s classified under technical. When i want to click diary style to change fonts colors etc, instead i’m meet with this: Microsoft VBScript runtime error ‘800a0005’ Invalid procedure call or argument: ‘Right’ /editstyle.asp, line 282 I’ve already try emailing for help but no reply has been given. I hope you can help me. Thanks.

Hi, I have a diary on TOD and lately I can’t seem to get any entries with my specific layout to save. I tried to find you for help on that site but couldn’t. Is this an wider problem or is it just me?Also, on this diary site, I don’t understand how the Editor Settings works, and how to save and use entry layouts for my entries. If you could help me that would be great, thanks.

I’m having a problem putting things on my front page.

it it possible to make the process of adding in a picture for entrys a browse function? typing in the url code doesn’t seem to be working, unless i’m doing something wrong… please help thanks –

does this apply to only OD or TOD as well? b/c my friend has a diary over there, and she can’t make any new entries, especially with html. she also said that she and several others she knows can’t save/leave notes, either, and it’s been that way for about 3 days now. i hope you can help them.

Quick thing to let you know about. When I go to write an entry, the background is white and doesn’t have the background that I picked. Maybe there’s a small coding problem. Plus, sometimes when I go to type my entries, somehow the private entry radio check box would somehow select itself and everytime while I write and hit the space bar, it select and deselect the private note box. It just ….

annoys me when that happens. Hopefully you will look into this small problem and have it fixed. Snoop

since youve updated the site, i havent gotten any changes on either of my diarys. my friends say that they can change font, color, and size with the use of a tool bar that was started after the update, but ive never seen that on either of mine. whats wrong?

I’m finally getting this all down, except I keep getting an error on my diary. Sometimes the “bar” that says Random, Favorites, Notes, yada yada yada… will come up and then disappear… but on every page there is also an error… is it my computer or the OD???

Why isn’t there an entry counter at the bottom, when you’re trying to write an entry? …I miss it.

I can’t find the page where i can report a violation. So i’ll just tell you on here… the diary author “True Christian tm” left this note on my diary… “I’m glad your grandpa is dead”… she has also been leaving notes on other people’s diaries telling them that they are going to hell and leaves very racist and otherwise offensive things on her diary. thanks for you help. I am wondering about the diary circles. I have noticed on a few of them that the entries that are listed have NOTHING to do with the circle. But I have heard that there is a problem with entries getting posted to more than one circle unintentionally? Just wanted you to know of the problem.
