Cleaner Pages

Because what we all want is to have cleaner pages.

This is a small one, but to a geek it is good. I finally got around today to writing a piece of code that would block all the various and sundry HTML tags that have been floating across our front page, theme page, and reader’s choice page – making the tables all goofy and doing things like displaying black bars where there should be text, or showing people’s names ~*:( Real Big ):*~.

This was not anyone’s fault – these were all tags that you are allowed to use in diary entries, but when OD would display excerpts from your entries on the page it would sometimes make things weird. I haven’t changed how you can use any of those tags in your own diary, only in how they are handled when displayed outside your diary.

Anyways, these pages should look better from now on, and not like they’re being disassembled by out-of-control word gnomes. This is way too much explanation for something that I should have been able to code in ten minutes, but on a Sunday afternoon it took a little longer.

Personally, I don’t think your explanation is too long. I wondered why the html codes showed up on the front OD page. Now I know…kind of. Us non-computer-literate people need longer explanations, anyway.

well good for you, but now the text options in my diary are gone. Can you please fix that?

So what you ar trying to say is you can’t prettyfy the Diary Description with Tags? Or what are you saying. I’m confused sorry ♥

If you wanted OD to be gnome friendlier you could move that menu at the top of the page a little closer to the desktop … 😉

Just wanted to let you know that I love the changes that have been made to OD. Everything is set up very nicely now. I enjoy the site either way, but it’s much easier to navigate now. Just thought you’d like some positive feedback. =)
