An IMPORTANT Reminder
Nothing much to add today. DiaryMistress brought me lunch, so at least I’m eating well. She also procured a Hostess Blueberry Pie from the deli, which I hadn’t had in several years – they were always one of my favorites. Still feels like a pound of lead in my stomach after I ate it, but as delicious as always.
Not trying to yell or anything, but I have to get attention somehow.
I get several e-mails each and every day, from OD members who have either forgotten their user name, or forgotten their password (or both). I got six today, and that’s about average.
Several months ago, I added a password retrieval mechanism to OD. Like the password retrieval mechanisms of most websites, it is based on you giving us your e-mail address, and then us using that address to mail your name or password to you, should you forget them. Which works like a charm, unless we don’t have your e-mail address.
Since OD is an anonymous site, there is no other way to confirm your ownership of your diary – unless we have a valid mail address that is owned by you. We don’t take names, phone numbers, addresses, or any other personal information – so the e-mail address is the only way we can tie you back to your diary (that could be taken the wrong way).
If you don’t know if you have supplied an e-mail address to OD, please go now and check. You can see it by going to the Diary Maintenance menu, and clicking Personal Profile. At the bottom of the screen is a space for your e-mail address. If it’s blank, or the address that’s there is no longer valid, please put in a valid e-mail address (that belongs to you).
You may think you’ll never forget your password – but you never know. I can’t be flexible with giving out access to diaries, and one of the worst parts of my day is when I have to tell somebody I can’t get them back into a diary that they’ve forgotten the password to. As I think about this, I believe I will make the e-mail address required, when starting a new diary. That may save a lot of grief.
In other news, I fixed the bit in the Favorites screen where some diarists were showing as having last updated on 1/1/1900. We’ve been around awhile, but not that long. I’m working on several other things, to be released in coming days.
Also – there’s a new entry over at the OD Cares diary. If you’ve never visited, come over and see how you might be able to help someone in need.

Hello Diary Master. I have a question. Recently, I’ve been recieving many rude notes from a number of people, but none have signed their name. I don’t want to put my diary on friends only. Is there any way that I can find out who is doing this. Thank you much. Alyssa.

Hi. i know you have to have adverts on the od but can you do somthing about one of them. its for a SMS site. it pops up on every click as soon as you open a diary and every page after then. it would not be to bad if it was not for the face that you have to click 5+ time to make it go and then stop it trying to download its self onto your computer adverts are one thing but software

trying to force its self on us is another thing. i am not blaming you for this by a long way its just it gets my goat up when adverts do this. i dont know if you have checked it out but does the software have a virus or tracker in it. i am sure your security checks the advert but not the download? …

I’m having a problem when I try adding new entries to my diary. I’ll be typing and such, and it signs me out cuz I had too much “inactivity” even though I was on it the entire time? Like in my last entry, i wrote two sentences, and it was in the space of maybe two minutes max, and it signed me out. Just seeing if thats something that can get fixed
