Tentative Publishing Plans (Non-Poem)

[12:20 PM]
So, I know it’s been a while since I updated the publication plans, so I just thought I’d bring everyone into the loop while I’m working on something at the office, waiting on others to finish their “something”s at the office, and trying to cope with feeling sick in general.

Summer 2006
The Quiet Ones – My first-for-2005 National Novel Writing Month novel is nearly done. I’m doing some rewrites and edits now, and planning out the cover with Ayeka. I am expecting (which is to say that it’s hoping, mostly, since we’ve identified a few things that could use some rewrites or changes to make things work better) to have the editing done by Memorial Day weekend, and then the cover done a week or so later as we’re doing it ourselves. I should, therefore, have it out before the end of July. (Updated due to massive plans over Memorial Day.)

What’s missing: Final rewrites and editing, cover, ISBN(s).
What I’m planning: Two editions – hardcover and soft – through Lulu.com
(See earlier in this journal for a preview.)

Clockwork – This is the one that you all know I’m grousing on. I’m waiting still on Minagi, but she’s supposedly committed to getting the last illustraions done in the next five weeks. Once I have those, I’ll get the book organized, do a final look-over and consideration, and then put it out (finally).

What’s missing: Illustrations, ISBN, website.
What I’m planning: Two editions – hardcover and soft – through Lulu.com The editions will be different – The hardcover will be likely to include more art than the paperback, as a reward/inducement to buy the hardcover. 🙂
(See scattered throughout the journal for previews of both verse and art.)

Maryland State Art Council IAA – I need to put together my bi-annual collection of work for submission in July. I’m hopeful this year (which is to say, comments on here have encourged me at least to think I’ve improved since July 2004) of doing well enough to possibly get a grant… and use that to finance my publishing.

Fall 2006/Winter 2007
Echoes of Angels – My second-for-2006 National Novel Writing Month novel. This one needs more work – I wrote it, admittedly, in ten days, and it shows in places. While I am considering a sequel to The Quiet Ones, this one definitely has sequels already sketched out in my mind, and at least one of these is going to be written for NaNoWriMo 2006. (This is the most tentative of my writing plans, since there’s also NaNo 2006 in November to worry about, as well as anything else life throws at us.)

What’s missing: Editing, proofing, illustrations(if any), cover
What I’m planning: This one needs work. Gimme time on it.
(See earlier in this journal for a preview.)

memories of childhood forgotten or articles of faith – I haven’t decided on a title for the next collection of poetry.. but I’m thinking of actually putting out another collection early next year. The title’ll depend on the tone I end up taking and how many are my more spiritual poems… plus which just sounds like it would sell better… i dunno.

What’s missing: Decent poetry from yours truly.
What I’m planning: Depends on the title, I may have a cover. Just needs organization, and a bit of confidence before I move forward.

New Years Cards – My goal this year is to do two cards – one that I’m going to be sending out personally in mid-December, and one that I’ll offer for sale through CafePress by mid-November. I’m hoping to use proceeds from that to help pay for publishing the poetry collection (namely, getting an ISBN – $35 through Lulu – for the books). Any thoughts as to theme?

But I thought I’d let y’all in anyway on the process in my diseased little mind….
