patches

patches of green grass
melting through the whitened quilt
winter’s not yet here
autumn’s not quite departed
and still spring’s ready to go

Not that it’s particularly warm outside, but.

Early Friday, it snowed a little bit – not enough to really cause a problem, but certainly enough to cover the ground in a fairly uniform blanket of white and leave it piled up for a few days. By this afternoon, though, I can see patches of grass free and clear of ice… at least for the moment. (It’s supposed to snow again later this week.)

Funny, how things here never seem content to stay ‘in season’…

I’m going to be devestated when I go home for Christmas break. Because we have apparently accumulated more than a foot of snow up there in that frigid tundra of “home.” It’s going to be quite a shock, I think.

Lack of season becomes a comfort sometimes. It snowed during May here, and I just got out an umbrella and felt like everything made sense for a moment.
