name

just sounds
distinguishing
each one from another
so why is it so difficult
to choose?

Choosing my own name was hard enough – choosing it for someone else is twice as hard.

Ayeka and I had to finish with the birth certificate this morning, as part of the process of getting discharged from the hospital. The first name had been easy – we’d picked that one quickly off the bat. The middle name… that was hard. We’d narrowed it down to four choices, and then kept putting off making a decision while other things came up. The woman coming in to take piccies of the baby was really what got us to finalize what we were going to name him, and so now the birth certificate has a full name on it.

The mundane bits and pieces of having a baby seem to just creep up and bury you if you’re not watching. It’s not just the big things like making sure you have a pediatrician or handling issues of learning how to feed and diaper the baby… it’s also things like scheduling the mohel for a brit m’lah (harder when you want the most popular one in the area), handling mother’s day stuff, trying to stuff some food in your face so you don’t starve…

And for those who haven’t looked – I thought it was time after a few years to get a new profile pic. The cherry blossoms have long since faded…

That’s quite a Mother’s day present! It’s a gorgeous picture, but it seems weird to think you have a baby! Does it feel weird to you too?Anyway, MAZEL TOV!!!
