Such is life…

I may have made a mistake last night. I gave Carl a taste of my banana bread. He scarfed it up, I skritched his head a bit and headed inside. I don’t know if there’s a connection to my actions or not, but this morning there was another gift on my rug. Ahhhh heck. DH was still asleep in bed so I did the duty and got everything cleaned up. I might have to re-think giving him banana bread, but the Rickster gave Lucky Snickerdoodles, and since I didn’t have any Snickerdoodles, I provided homemade banana bread. Only a bite, mind you, but it may have been enough to evoke a feeling of a ‘trade’ in Carl’s mind.

Sunday morning breakfast is usually something special — waffles, eggs with sausage or ham (or bacon), something like that. This morning I experimented and put some apple pie filling in the bottom of a cake pan, sliced an apple on top of that, and then added a coffee cake batter made with Bisquick. I used Splenda instead of sugar in the batter so hopefully, it won’t spike DH’s sugar numbers too much. We shall see.

I used to get up before DH, make him breakfast, and serve it to him in bed. Since he has to ‘do his numbers’ first thing in the morning, I don’t get to do that. I commented to him this morning about this situation and he said he didn’t think it would kill him to every once in a while skip the morning reading. He always does his numbers later in the day, so perhaps it wouldn’t hurt. Perhaps I’ll do that for our anniversary!

It’s a beautiful day today — we’ve already had two trains go down through the valley. A friend in Australia sent me a link to a YouTube video taken on September 28, 2012, of UP844 being re-railed at the Sacramento Railroad Museum . This came after our son sent a picture of UP844 taken this past Saturday at Sparks, NV, where he’s working.
