Keeping Busy

Today should be a kick-back kind of day but I’ve put off my sewing until the very last minute and I need to go into town today so need to make this a short entry. I have the fabric cut and the center block laid out for the quilt guild’s block of the month project, but need to cut fabric for the second/copy of the block. I messed up (see my previous entry) in my cutting so am still short fabric. Don’t know what I can do about it other than just take a plain black and use that. :/ Cie la vie!

I also need to get in to the scrapbook shop and talk to the owner — I’m hoping that she’ll let me copy the web site notes that a friend made when she worked there and was in charge of the store’s web site. It’ll help me get going on the Depot’s web site. <great sighs here–procrastination just increases the worry that I’ll do something horrible to the site.> I’ve maintained web sites before, but it’s been a while, and it was a completely different program running the web site. I can do this — I know I can.

Yesterday evening, just as the sun was starting to drop down, I was sitting at my computer and happened to glance out my window at the valley. There in all its glory was the same male deer that we’d seen in the yard a few days ago. He had 3 points on his antlers and was eating from the bird feeder! I quietly called to DH and told him to grab his camera. He couldn’t get the picture, but did manage to see the second deer that was out of sight of my window. It was a female, so we’re thinking it’s a couple and they’ll be back. We still have the pan of water for the birds and wildlife that come into the yard at night, so the deer had grain and water. We won’t be seeing them once we get our split rail fencing put up. We’ll have grape vines growing on the wire with solar lights on top of each post. Should be very attractive and give the birds a place to hide from predators.

That’s it for now … have a blessed day. Be safe, be well and please be happy. Be sure to tell those you love that you love them. I happened to catch a bit of a talk by Jon Kabat-Zen the other day. He said people think that they need an hour in which to meditate. He said all you have to do is stop at any given moment in time to just BE — that’s all that’s needed to make the all-important connection to the little voice within you. May your moments today be filled with peace and wonder and love …

Just lovely moments even without enough fabric, 🙂

that’s a very important thought, at the end there. Hope the quilting works out.
