Just an Update of Sorts
It’s been a good weekend–lots of reading, a bit of sewing (mostly ripping out stitches), and some sitting on the deck with DH, drinking iced tea and watching the birds, trains and traffic on the highway. Just wonderful.
This next week is going to be packed. Beginning on Tuesday evening, there’s Bunco at our house (I traded times with another member who is down with the flu–I got picked because I’m ‘easy’ and the person looking for a replacement knew I’d do it). I’ll need to figure out what I’m going to feed them and get to the store to buy goodies for the tables.
Then Wednesday it’s off to Palmdale and JoAnn’s for fabric and fusible webbing. I hope to make a number of Christmas presents while in AZ and need to get my materials beforehand.
Thursday is the Diabetes Support group meeting, and then Friday I have to deliver 4 handmade quilts to the West Park Rec. Center for the "Fiddling’ Down the Tracks" event. The rec. center is actually a gymnasium, and the acoustics don’t lend themselves to musical events, so the Tehachapi Mountain Quilter’s loan quilts to be hung around the room. I don’t quite understand what the quilts do, but they soften the sounds and make a huge difference in the quality of the sound. They were short of volunteers so I said I could bring 4 quilts. I only made one of the quilts, but they said it didn’t matter who made them, they needed them for the difference they made in the acoustics of the room. I need to take a look at the quilt that we use on our bed (that we’re not using now that it’s summertime and far too warm for a quilt) and see if it’s clean enough to hang. Thankfully, the quilts don’t have to have rod pockets on the back, as none of mine do. They were made to be used, though one of them (State’s Quilt) is far too valuable to be used for everyday.
Not much else going on … Carl is crying at the window so I must close this for now.
Blessings to all — be safe, be well and please be happy. Be sure to tell those you love that you love them.
Sound is better when it isn’t hitting a bunch of hard edges. Nice that you can make a difference!

definitely fabric of any sort softens the harsh bounce and echo of hard walls and floors! Ever notice how an empty house echoes? Then add furniture curtains, etc. and the echo goes away…

You make me yearn big time to go to JoAnn’s. I love that place and Hobby Lobby is in my top 10 too! Enjoy!
