It’s Been …
AGES since I wrote here, much less read anyone else’s diary.
GOOD — I’ve kept very, very busy
BAD — DH and I had a fairly nasty bout of food poisoning a week ago today and I’m positive I won’t be going there again.
DIFFERENT — Worked the Depot for First Friday on the 5th and on the way home was stopped in line at a CHP Sobriety Checkpoint when I got rearended by a gentleman who failed to see a) the sign by the road saying "Sobriety Checkpoint Ahead", b) the flashing red and blue lights of the highway patrol cars, OR, c) all of the guys in day-glo green vests walking around with walkee-talkees. I’m fine — there’s a minor crack on the underneath of the rear bumper of the "Silver Bullet" that doesn’t show, doesn’t hurt, and which we’re not going to bother getting repaired. Turns out the guy is our neighbor and is an attorney…. The CHPer’s gave him a field sobriety test on the spot. I had to laugh to myself — such luck. I’d had half of a small glass of spiked iced coffee at one of the artist galleries and thought for sure they’d smell it on my breath. I knew I wasn’t anywhere close to being inebriated, but one worries, nonetheless.
GREAT — being back here. My apologies for being among the missing fo so long this time.
Be safe, be well (watch where and what you eat!), and please be happy. Be sure to tell those you love that you love them.
p.s. "Worked the Depot" means I was there as a docent, greeting and visiting with people. DH and I worked on Sunday, the 30th, then again on the 4th, and I followed up with a Solo 1 hour stint on First Friday — an event that takes place the first friday of every month. Businesses in downtown stay open late and offer refreshments to those who are wandering around, checking out all of the businesses. It’s nice because if people work m-f, they don’t often get to spend time in a store just for the pleasure of seeing what’s offered and visiting with people they don’t get to see all that often. Playing Docent is fun.

Reminds me of when I got stopped for a tag light out coming from a Halloween party – in full dead gangster costume. Scared the cop half to death when he shined his flashlight in on me. I’d been at a wake that afternoon and had a shot of scotch as a tribute to the deceased. I knew it probably was long out of my system but one worries anyway!

Food poisoning is NO fun. I’m glad you are over it. The attorney who rearended you owes you one. I hope he realizes that you are decent people.
