Idle hands

My mother always said that idle hands were the tools of the devil (or something like that). Not one to be accused of being a tool of the devil, I’ve started yet another project, while waiting for the batting for the Brown Strip quilt. These blocks were given to me by a quilting friend who had tired of looking at them and didn’t want to pursue putting them together. I’m not a true fan of purple, but this is growing on me (as it grows on my dining room table).

There are three colors of flannel blocks, each backed with white flannel and stitched, corner to corner. There are more of the purple chenille than any one color of flannel, so I am going for a really different layout pattern. I have no idea how it will look or how big it will be when I finish, but I’m going for it. It was a gift and I have time, so I’m putting them both to good use.

We haven’t seen Carl for days now, and tonight, all of a sudden, Roy is at the back door, meowing to come in. DH didn’t want to let him in because he has a tendency to do the claw/stretch on things. He hooks his claws into whatever material is nearby and pulls away. Pretty soon, Carl showed up at the door, and when I opened the door for Carl, Roy beelined right inside with Carl. And then we did a ‘follow the cats’ game for the next 20 min. I don’t know what the fascination is with the underside of our bed, but the cats almost always head right for the bedroom and go underneath the bed. :/ Weird!

Roy has such a strange coloring on his coat too …

Eventually, I got tired oI having both cats inside and I coaxed them out. DH said I could only have one cat. 🙂 Which is a far cry from what he USED to say about me liking Carl.

We had a railfan guest visit us yesterday. Randy Murphy and his wife live in Las Vegas, and he has a web site for rail photos called North American Rails.com  His wife stayed down in San Diego this time, but he’s promised to return again and to keep in touch. We really enjoyed the visit. He took a number of photos of trains from the deck,  even though it was 50 deg. and the wind was blowing. I finally took two jackets out for DH and Randy and brought them hot chocolate since they didn’t seem to be interested in coming indoors where it was warm. Amazing what men will go through for a photo! It was far too cold for me, much as I love trains, I’m content to watch from the warmth of my living room!

Nothing else of note to report so I’ll close this with blessings to all. Be safe, be well and please be happy. Be sure to tell those you love that you love them.

I’m not a fan of purple either but I love that quilt, especially the chenille!

Trains are the thing. Are you sure that Roy isnn’t a Royette? LOL

I love the purple quilt! I think cats are attracted to the underside of beds because they like to play with the dust bunnies. 🙂

The orange tabby has a “mackerel” tabby pattern on his coat, and the darker tabby is a “classic” tabby with the big circles on his body. I know this because I went to a tabby website. I had a cat who looked like the darker tabby. He was such a sweetheart. Unfortunately he was hit by a car.

RYN/ Roger’s gf’s idea was to have a BYOB card party and play poker. Thanks for your comments. It makes me feel better to know that others are thinking the same thing that I am.
