Hesitation is high
A couple of weeks ago I posted about completing and delivering the brown strip quilt. I offhandedly showed it to a writer friend (not on OD) and she’s insisting that I write an article about it and submit it to a magazine. I mentioned it to the recipient of the quilt as I wanted to make sure she was comfortable with me revealing her story, and SHE said to go for it. I hesitate to do that because I’ve already written about it here. I’ve always been under the impression that you have to submit a query to a magazine before submitting your writing because they’ll then know if they’re interested in what you have to say or not, and if they are interested, how much they’re willing to pay you for your words
True? False? Impractical hoping? LOL I wouldn’t mind making a bit of money from writing. I used to fantacize about earning a living as a writer–DH is convinced I have a book in me somewhere. I laugh and say, Oh yeah… do you have any idea what it takes to create a book??? LOL Well, I do. Needless to say, he’s pushing because he wants me to make millions and he can then buy more toys. 😉
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the Amtrak train #11 (for those of you who care) has been running inland while ties are being changed out on the track up north. We have a friend who has a close friend who owns a private varnish car. He’s sent us an e-mail letting us know their car (which has an observation deck on the back end) will be on the end of the Amtrak train that will be coming through on Friday evening. Yesterday, the train came through at 5:15 p.m. precisely. Tonight, it came through at 6:30 p.m. So much for being on time. LOL
I had a relatively good day today. I repaired a t-shirt for the next door neighbor and did a 2-hour cardmaking session for my quilting friend. She wanted to know how I made such beautiful cards. I proceeded to teach her the basics of how I create a card. I gave her instructions on a new card fold that I had wanted to learn and which I just happened to come across in my perusal of the Internet last night. This is such a change from our typical conversations about quilts, stitches and fabrics. She and I will go to Palmdale on Thursday morning and browse through JoAnn’s fabric store. I need to purchase the backing for my sister’s quilt and I’m hoping to find something on sale there. Otherwise it’s back to Bakersfield and WalMart…
Oh, and excellent news — Tehachapi is finally getting a new hospital! It’s been in the works for over 10 years now and they’re going to break ground on it this Thursday — just realized that I’ve said I’m going to Palmdale. Have to rework that date!!! Gads… where’s my mind?? Gone lik a Schwinn.
Well, that’s all for right now. Be safe, be well and please be happy. All of my OD friends are important to me. Never for one moment feel that the details of your life are mundane or too unimportant to share here. You are loved… Be sure to tell those you love that you love them. Consider yourself told!
Good luck with having your article published. I hope the magazine wants to buy it.

I’m pretty sure any of the quilting magazines would take unsolicited articles about a quilt…doubt they would pay for them though.

I am soooo hoping I can go to Joann’s on Friday after my appt. Excited with anticipation just thinking about it!! Oh how so very cool about the article and the quilt. You must do it. If you don’t you’ll always wonder and that is not acceptable. 😉 Congrats!!
