Happy Memorial Day!

I’ve been among the missing again. I’ve read and noted, but not produced an entry here. No excuse other than being very busy. A friend sent me the following chuckle and I thought I’d share it with you. It’s short, it’s clean, and it’s cute.

Reaching the end of a job interview, the Human Resources person asked the hotshot young Engineer, fresh out of MIT, "And what starting salary were you looking for?"

The engineer coolly said, "In the neighborhood of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package."

The interviewer said, "Well, what would you say to a package of 5 weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, company matching retirement fund to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every 2 years for starters, say, a red Corvette?"

The engineer tried to control his excitement, but sat straight up and said, "Wow! Are you kidding?"

"Yeah," the interviewer shrugged, "But you started it ."

Have a peaceful, reflective day today. We are so very blessed to live in the country we do. Even with its faults (and every country has faults to one degree or another), we have much to be thankful for this day, especially to those who have served (or are serving) in our military. Many people have given their lives so we can enjoy the freedoms we do.
