Clean Bill of Health –EDIT–

Edited to correct a typo…

DH and I met with his Endocrinologist today and learned that his bloodwork came out all perfectly normal. In fact, his A1C (a measure of his blood sugar control for the past 3 months) was 5.9, which is considered the high end of normal. The dr. was very impressed and said he really didn’t know what caused DH’s weight loss, but it wasn’t his diabetes, and the diabetes is totally under control. So we left his office and went shopping to celebrate! Actually, we just bought things we’d planned on buying, but it was a good feeling to know he didn’t have anything wrong with him that the dr. could find. He did suggest that DH go in for a thorough ‘scope’ upper and lower to be sure all was well. He said any time there’s a sudden weight loss and you’re not dieting, it’s a point of concern for dr’s.

Our weather turned out better than it started out to be today. We now have clear blue skies with only a few wispy white clouds. This morning the clouds were holding down around the middle of the surrounding mountains and it was very cold and damp. By the time we got back from B-field (where it was very warm and sunny), our weather had changed and it all looked pretty good.

My sister sent us another box–this time from the Duluth Trading Company. She told us to expect a package from them but we had no idea what she would buy other than that we should ‘be sure and share with one another.’ Well, the package came today. In it were two 3/4 lb. bars of "Duke Cannon Supply Co.’s "Big Axx Brick of Soap" "Smells Like Victory". I quote: "This soap product was designed to meet the high standards of hard working men who want to get clean & smell good without using feminine shower gels and accessories." One side of the box (in Camo Green and Military Brown) says, "This product is modeled after the rough cut, "brick" style of soap used by GIs during the Korean War and is manufactured in the same plant that was the primary supplier of military soap for over 20 years. In appreciation of the men and women who have kicked axx serving our country. Duke Cannon Supply Company will donate a portion of proceeds to veterans causes." Another panel says, "3X the size of most chick soaps" "steel cut grains for max gripability".

Personally, I don’t know how they can complain about the smell of ‘chick soap’ when I could smell this soap through the box and the sealed plastic bag AND the shipping box! Whew doggies but it’s strong stuff. And way too big for our soap dish!! LOL She also sent me a contaner of Beeswax Bandage that is a waterproof bandage that’s supposed to stop bleeding from minor cuts and scrapes. I tried a bit on a finger that had a crack at the corner. Nice stuff… AND she sent us another can of Monkey Butt Powder (for him, I believe, as it’s in a yellow container while mine was pink. And for the grandkids she sent this huge book on paper airplanes which I promptly put back into the box and loaded the other things I had set aside to ship to them. Everything fit in the box perfectly–but I think I should have shared the Monkey Butt powder and at least one bar of this soap with them. LOL I’ll have to save it for the next box I send down to them.

That’s all the news that’s fit to report so I’ll close this with a smile and a wish for everyone to be safe, be well, and please be happy. Life can be a lot of fun at times. You never know when you’ll learn something new–I did today. Be sure to tell those you love that you love them.

They sell Monkey Butt powder here at the local farm store. Always gives me a chuckle when I see it. Glad to hear about the clean bill of health!

Monkey Butt powder? Whatever is that used for? Stopping sweat that is about to run down your butt crack?

Someone gave us some very smelly soap and we ended up putting it outside. Then I noticed that a rat had bitten lumps out of it!!

that soap sounds a little too pungent for me…Give me “chick soap” any day. 🙂

I hope it doesn’t smell like Monkey Butts. Then again I am not an expert on Monkey Butt oders

Thank you so much for the little cookbook. You bet I will try some of these. Let us know when the next test results are back about the weight loss. Hugs.
