The Circle Of Life…

This morning, a few of us watched out of our office window as a hawk was chased down it’s morning meal — a small finch.  The aerial dogfight (or birdfight) was amazing to see.  The sharp turns, power dives, and barrel rolls were enough to make me dizzy.  Both the hawk and finch were extremely fast and agile.  As the hawk inched its way closer to its breakfast through loops and swirls on an invisible track, the end came just as fast as it had begun.  The finch, its mind racing to figure out a flight path to elude its hunter, and the hawk, mentally celebrating its would-be capture and savoring its soon-to-be meal, failed to notice the glass window of the building.  With two light thuds, the race was over.  Nobody won.
