Confusion Sets In…

Friday, I was told to make arrangements to go to Dallas for an interview.  When I was originally asked if I was interested in this position, the regional manager told me that he would send me up to Dallas for a weekend so I could talk with everyone in the office and "get a feel for it", and also to look around town and search out apartments.  He also told me that he had heard a lot of great things about me and no one has ever had anything negative to say about my performance (my attitude is another matter, but I digress).

So, Friday I’m told to make arrangements.  Set up a flight, book a hotel room, and get a rental.  I’m supposed to pay for everything myself and they will cut me a check later and pay me back.  I don’t like that system.  For one, I don’t have the funds to get all of that, so I’m going to have to drive myself instead.  I’ll get $0.48 a mile, so I’ll make a little money that way.  I call up to Dallas and get a hotel room right next door to the office for Wednesday night, Thurdsay night, and Friday night.  My interview is Thursday, so I figured I’d spend Friday looking around town and finding a nice place to live.

Now for the confusing part:

I get a call today from the HR lady and she tells me that if I’m going to drive, she has no problem with that.  She’s just wants to make sure I’m ok with driving up late Wednesday night and having to turn right around the next night.  Huh??  I was under the impression that I was to stay up there and look around!  Also, she scheduled my interview at 9:00 am.  Mine should start just as the others are finishing.  HUH?????  I thought the position was already mine and that I was just going up there to meet with these folks.

Now I’m all worried that I may not have a new job up there.  See….this is the type of shit that happens to me any time I start to dwell on something potentially good in my life.  It gets all fucked up….
