Hundred-Sixty: My Beating Heart
.Tanya Faith.My Beating Heart
Told From 3rd Person POV
“Who has their assignments ready?” Professor Burbage asked putting her hands together. “The ball is such an exciting time for students, isn’t it? I wanted you to write about your experience.” She then looked around the room, and as usual nobody was eager to read.
“Ah, okay then Mr. Shadows.” She said as Kaden and Zeke looked up, not knowing which one she meant.
Kaden grabbed his parchment and went in front of the class. Looking at Tanya before he took a deep breath, he read out loud:
You looked so beautiful standing there.
The sequence of your dress drenched in gasoline.
You danced around obliviously,
As your heels made of matches struck the floor.
I walked over to you, and you took my hand.
We circles around the embers in the room.
Red and orange burst of flame.
Falling.
falling
Scorned.
I dangled around what is left of my flesh in front of your mouth
Ignited by the gesture, you engulfed every last drop.
A satisfied look gleaming in your eyes
You began to gnaw on my bones.
With my last breath, I ripped open my chest cavity and retrieved my beating heart.
I want you to have it as a trophy
because you already had it….and you knew that
Didn’t you?
Kaden looked up from his paper to the class starring at him once again, just as before. Mrs. Burbage let out a loud clap as everyone followed, but not sure why. The majority of them didn’t understand his pieces and the other half drifted off into dreamland, saddened because they understood.
“Magnificent. See class – that is what it is all about. Releasing feelings!” She motioned Kaden to sit down. Kayleen gave him a stern look. She knew it wasn’t about her, and she was pretty sure who it was too. Zeke did as well. Tanya starred back at Kaden and nodded in apporval. She took it as a compliment, though she was only half sure it was to her.
