As Darkous left out the door, it seemed a piece of mother had left with him. It sickened me; her dependence on men. We are the ones in control, not them. Grandmother taught her that, I know that.

“Mother…not to sound vain but what are you doing with a vampire? You do know that they’re in the lower class,” I had to force that out of me. It was so hypocritical of me to say but it was the only way to get the truth out of her.

She gave Alana and I a motion to sit down. “Ah girls. You think just like your grandmother. You see ten years old years ago, when I had that spell of running away from home, I found myself in the depths of England. I had used all of my money and mother wouldn’t give me anymore. I was on the street. I was using my powers for….” Mother paused for a second “Prostitution. I was held captive by one of my clients and out of nowhere, Darkous saved me.” She chuckled. “Let’s say it was love at first sight.”

Alana and I gave each other suspicious looks. Mother had a tendency to make up stories. “Those students he mentioned yesterday, does he ever say much about them?”

Mother thought for a minute. “Well…..” she vicariously shook her head no and jumped up. “It’s been a decade since I saw you girls. You drove me to a state of insanity. I just want you to remember that,” She suddenly left. Alana and I tried to piece together what happened but nothing was coming to mind.

Told from Harry’s POV

The trip to France was rather quiet. The four of us didn’t have much in common to talk about. It was hard for me to smile at Zeke the most. Just when my life was balanced, he comes back into the picture.

“How do you know she’s in trouble anyhow?” Kaden asked breaking the silence. “You some sort of prophet?”

“Voldermort can take over my mind and make me see things he wants me to.”

“You dare speak his name!” Zeke called out. “That’s dangerous!”

I laughed. “You have no idea who I am, do you?”

“Well you’re arrogant, a woman stealing, rich boy who….”

My scar began to throb with each word that Zeke was speaking. “Is that what you think you nasty vampire, selfish, goody who…..” I inched closer to him in rage as Colin held me back. “You’ll never make her happy as I do!”

Zeke charged toward me as Kaden grabbed ahold of his cloak. “Alright children!” Kaden stood between us and stretched out his arm on both sides to our chest. “We’re all here for the same reason. She’s in trouble, right? Harry – it doesn’t matter if you are the boy-who-lived. We all know that. Zeke – it doesn’t matter if you are smart and….” Kaden tried to think of another attribute but couldn’t. “Well the important thing is….we are all here to save her and we have to work as a team!”

Colin guided us to the Delacour villa. It was surrounded by guards and flowers.

“Etat de votre entreprise, monsieur!” The guard didn’t even look at us.

Colin and I looked each other. We had no idea what he just said.

“Nous sommes ici pour voir Tanya.” Zeke replied but the guard seemed unphased.

“Mme Delacour ne parle pas de tout visiteur d’aujourd’hui, monsieur.” The guard then shooed us away.

“Wait! I have a key! Tanya gave me this during our first year. Whenever I want to visit her, I need to present this key!” Colin pulled out the key from his cloak and showed the guard. “She gave this to me!”

The guard examined the key and allowed us to go in.
