Hundred-Fifty-Nine: Talk of the Night

.Tanya Faith.After the Ball

The ball came and went, just like every other year. Knowing it won’t be the last one of the year, however, I can be satisfied knowing that I have time to make my performance more memorable. I wasn’t expecting my competition to be that good. I didn’t expect my competition to be the new girl, either. I have lost focus of things that make me…well me. The veela in me; I sing. I kill. I seduce. I haven’t been doing any of that. Too focused on the latter.

“That waz zo much fun!” Fleur said as we walked down the hallway. “Too bad that Bill couldn’t make it tonight!” Fleur said taking off her heels. “Oh wellz. Thanks for the zheet muzic! I don’t remember practicing that zong before!”

“Oh. Yeah I wrote it a few days ago. I’m sorry I didn’t discuss it with you. I guess I forgot,” I shrugged. “If you guys ever want to pick the playlist just tell me.” I communicated with her as we got on the moving staircase.

“Who iz zhe?” Fleur quizzed. I gave her a confused look. “You ztood in front of zomeone at the ball. Zhe zeemed very mal à l’aise.”

“Uncomfortable huh?” I smiled in satisfaction. “Well if you must know, that is Cedric’s sister. She’s been hanging out with Kaden more than necessary, and by doing so, she’s been hanging out with us.” I suddenly gasped. “What if she becomes my sister-in-law?” I eeked.

Told from Colin’s POV

The midnight hour was approaching as sleep overcame my body. Jazmine, on the other hand, had other plans in mind.

“Aria did exceptionally well tonight. I need to congratulate her laterz,” She blurted.

“Yeah she did but your family did better.” I put in. “Not that it is a competition.” I looked at Jazmine as she gave a confused face. “Yeah I know, Aria is our friend, and so is Tanya. I think I’ve been hanging out with her too long.”

“Everyone did well – and it izn’t a competition like you zaid. It iz a dance for ztudentz to have fun and a way for the zchool to zave money zo they don’t have to hire talent, Colin. I never figured why Tanya gets zo intimidated.”

I sighed heavily at the thought of this. I didn’t say anything for a while because I was trying to read her thoughts, but tonight, it seems I couldn’t.

“Why is it that I can her thoughts but not yours?” I questioned. With that statement, Jazmine gave me a scornful look.

“Zhe, can read zour thoughts….and you can read herz?” Jazmine asked as I nodded. “Colin – the only time a veela can read someones thoughts is if they have a very ztrong zoul attachment. Zometimez it’s the same potronous, zometimez it’s out of love, and zometimez it’s out of a heroic need of zaving that makez you forever bonded….zan you read my thoughts?”

I sat there in silence again and looked ahead. Jazmine was very mad at me.

“You love her, don’t you?” She questioned as she ran to the girls dorm. For some reason I sat there, and didn’t run after her. There aren’t too many people that understand mine and Tanya’s relationship but it’s okay. They don’t have to.
