Where’s Ganky? :(

Christopher’s had this one blanket since he was a baby (Jimmy’s mom made it for him before he was born and made it double-sided. One side could be for a girl, one for a boy)and he let me use it to keep Jocelyn warm today. Dropped him and Wesley off at school, then went to the grocery store to pick up a couple things. I lost his blanket. 🙁 It must have fallen off somewhere in the store because she had it when we came in but Amelia didn’t tell me so I didn’t notice. I felt us run over it but it didn’t occur to me that’s what it was because I was trying to find something. Then when I realized it was gone I went back into the store to find it but it wasn’t there. Someone must have taken it home with them. 🙁 How am I going to break this to him? It’s like his best friend – he calls it Ganky and talks to it and through it sometimes… 🙁 He always asks "Where’s Ganky?" when he gets home and I usually can tell him where it is but I can’t today. It’s gone and I don’t know if we’ll ever get it back. 🙁 I even called the store to ask if anyone’s brought it in but no one has. I described it to the woman on the phone and she said "Oh, my son had that same blanket" but before I could say "I highly doubt it considering his grandma made it for him." she said "and he died without it." Apparently he was really sick or something and had a favorite blanket he’d had since he was a baby but they lost it and didn’t find it before he died. 🙁 I cried the whole way home because I feel absolutely horrible about this. I wouldn’t blame him if he never forgave me for it. I gave the woman my name and address so hopefully someone will bring it back to the store and they’ll mail it me.
