She would have been 55 today…

Today would have been my mom’s 55th birthday. Today is also my sister’s 35th birthday. I should call her and wish her a Happy Birthday. I can’t believe Mom has been gone for almost 6 years but that’s exactly how long it’s going to be as of September 22, 2006.

Bad things happen in September, I guess. September 30, 1955 is when James Dean died – almost 51 years ago, yet he’s just as gorgeous, talented and relevant today as he was all those years ago. He would have been 75 years old on February 8, 2006 if he hadn’t died.

I wonder what my mom thinks of the kids. She never got to see Wesley start school – now he’ll be a 2nd grader. Christopher will be in Kindergarten. She never got to see Christopher, Amelia or Jocelyn. It’s not fair! Why did she have to decide smoking was more important than her health? She was even on oxygen near the end and yet still smoked whenever it wasn’t on. Nice priorities, Mom. I can’t even go see her at the cemetary because Jimmy had to work today and won’t get home until around 10 p.m. and the cemetery (spelling?)will be long closed by then.

Jimmy thinks I’m morbid for reading the obituaries, going to findagrave.com, reading books (I only have two and those I got recently)about stars who have died, how they died, etc. I think it’s just my interest in people’s lives (all facets of it)showing through. I don’t think it’s morbid. It’s not like I’m going to dig anyone up, for crying out loud! I think he thinks a lot of my interests are odd. Like my subscription to Vogue. Every time it comes in the mail he says "Your porn is here". lol Which reminds me, I need to finish the May issue and read the June issue before the July issue gets here.

I should go. I need to do a little housework, read for a while, enjoy the peace and quiet until Jimmy gets home from work.

I hope everyone has a good Father’s Day weekend. 🙂 As for me, we’ll be at Jimmy’s parents’ farm tomorrow. Yay. I haven’t been able to get Jimmy anything for Father’s Day since money has been so tight. Maybe I’ll make him a cake or something…
