I applied for a job…

I applied for a job at a local video store. I highly doubt I’ll get it, considering I have absolutely no job experience whatsoever. I asked for part-time, in the evenings. They don’t close until Midnight so I figure if I work from 6 p.m. to closing, that’s 6 hours a day (assuming this would be my schedule)for 3-4 days a week. 18-24 hours a week, unless my math is that bad. I asked for $7.50 an hour – that’s minimum wage, right? So, $7.50 an hour x 6 hours = $45.00 a day x 4 days a week (assuming) = $180.00 a week (before taxes, of course)x 52 weeks in a year = $9,360.00 (apparently I’d get national holidays off and paid)before taxes. Now, before you get all impressed by my wonderful math skills (lol), I used a calculator. 🙂 I’m not that good at math.

Part of me hopes I get it and part of me hopes I don’t. I haven’t even told Jimmy I applied (I just did it a few minutes ago on a whim)but I will when he gets home from work. I figure it’s close to home, in the evenings and only part-time. Plus, it will get me out of the house, I’ll get an employee discount there and other participating retailers (whatever they would be)and it’s money I made on my own. Jimmy will be home from work so he’ll be here to watch the kids so I don’t have to worry about a babysitter…

I need to go make lunch so I’m going to end this entry now.

*hugs*

Sadly, I think minimum wage is $5.50 Or is it $5.15? One of those.

Oh, I missed this when you first wrote it. Oops 😡 I hope it works out whichever way you really want. Oh and about the minimum wage, it varies from state to state. National minimum (basically no state can make it less than that) is $5.15, but each state can make it that or higher if they want. Here it’s $5.15. I know that CA was $6.75. Oh according to (c)

http://www.dol.gov/esa/minwage/america.htm#Oregon, yeah you were right, $7.50. Sorry just noticed your other noters were naysayers about that 😛 🙂 Good luck 🙂

Good luck!!

No, minimum wage is not necessarily $5.15. It all depends on what state you live in. I think it’s $5.35 in FL, but it’s $6.25 here in NY. Something to check on 🙂

🙂 Thanks for the note. I am glad you like my hair. I wish you good luck on the job. I don’t think you need any experience to work at a video store, although it would be beneficial to know of a lot of movies!
