Surgery Gal *PICS*
Today was Samara’s surgery on her sinuses. We didn’t have to be there until 11 and so it alieveated much stress trying to get out the door early in the morning which I think helped the whole day go smoothly. Samara got to sleep in to her normal time and all went well getting out the door.
We got there close to on time. Sabastian needed to nurse like mad, but Samara came first today. so I stayed with her.
We were promised that they would give her medication before she left me to make her less alert when they took her back. However, the anethesologist said she couldn’t have it. The surgeon said she could and so she got it. Little lady was hilarious on it. She was being silly which isn’t common for her, but it helped so much with keeping her calm!
It was funny when they asked if Santa was coming to her house she said, no he’s not real. She then asked her then who is the guy at the mall, she replied just a man in a costume. Samara is so literal sometimes.
Her elephant got a wrist band to with "Elephant (last name)" on it. It was cute.
She kept going on and on about how her "S" on her name badge was upside down. It was cute, and so Samara like.
She went back without a fuss! I was so relieved, after last time she did so well, and I am so proud of her!
I went out in the waiting room and this was a longer surgery. It lasted over an hour, much longer than the tonsils. Tonsils were 20 minutes if that. I liked the surgeon so much when he came out to see us he sat on the floor with me to talk to me. (I was sitting there playing with Mr. Man) He showed me the photos of her sinuses, and informed me they were full of polyps, and this is why her sinuses were not draining. The infection today wasn’t bad, but the polyps were making it so she wasn’t breathing and was chronically ill.
I was shortly allowed to go back, and she was sleeping when I got there.
My 2 babies sleeping.
She slept comfortably for a while, when she came too it, she was groggy and grumpy. Not unlike her mommy. She wanted pepsi, to watch tv and did not want to go home. She wanted to stay there because she loved her nurse and informed me I am not a nurse and therefore can not take care of her as good.
She wanted to hold her brother so we let her, until he needed to nurse again.
He was happy to see her in his own way. He has been so wonderful today! I could not have asked for a better baby today, it’s like he knows Samara needs mommy more today and is graciously sharing me.
Her nurse today was Matt, and he was truly amazing! He was attentive and caring and treated her like his own daughter. He explained everything to me and addressed all my worries with understanding and care, and never made me feel like I was over worried or crazy. He was everything I think a nurse should be but I rarely encounter. I see why Samara wanted to stay with him! As we left he even took our valet ticket out to get our van for us! I was so happy to have such wonderful staff today, such a refreshing change from her tonsils.
She seems to be feeling well, a bit groggy but good. i am happy she is feeling so well. They told me this surgery is much less painful than many of the other ones, and she should recover well.
I am happy to be home, and am looking forward to an even snuggled with my babies!
Glad things went well. 🙂
