Shocking work developments

Learning tons about my new job. Everyday something new. I enjoy the busy work parts of it most, working at my desk, banging things out. Yesterday I got recertified for CPR and AED (defibrillator). It was fun but tiring. I forgot how hard it can be to do chest compressions for any length of time. The defibrillator talks to you, tells you exactly what to do and sounds like the robot from Lost In Space. "Danger! Danger, Will Robinson! Attach the first pad to the patient’s upper right chest! Attach the second pad to the patient’s lower left chest. Danger! Danger! Do not touch the patient! Press the red button to deliver the shock!"

This is a big week because there is a board meeting and I must help prepare things from printed materials to ordering meals to room set up. One of my coworkers (salaried) has been putting in a lot of hours. Since I am hourly I am cautioned not to have overtime but I feel bad I can’t help her more.

Yesterday, S came to have lunch with me. It was a nice change of pace and she got to meet my new coworkers. A week or so ago she sent me flowers at work (a congratulations for getting the job) and all my coworkers talked about them and how beautiful they were. People said no one ever gets flowers here but the next week, the President brought flowers to her assistant. Which was very nice.

Working still feels a bit surreal, and tiring too, but it feels good to get stuff done.
