The joy of wind chimes
Don’t you think this blossoming cherry tree looks enchanting and inviting? A nice place to sit under and contemplate the wonders of life.
One would think so
*
looks can be very deceiving.
*
This tree has become my true enemy
*
Take a closer look at the pic
Do you see the WIND CHIMES they are now my worst enemy.
It started very innocently with me hanging a wooden bird feeder in the tree. It was nice to see the little finches eating their seeds
Then I added a delicate bauble of a wind chime that I found at a Halmark store. I would lay in bed and listen to the gentle whispering chime floating and wafting in the gentle breeze. I would fall into a blissful sleep.
Then I bought another one
and
another
and
another
It was an addiction
Then….

One day BB comes home from Ace hardware with another chime to add to our collection. A Massive, soothing, melodic and graceful “church bell” wind chime–the chime of all chimes.
- TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING IS TO MUCH
These Whispering, angelic windchimes have turned into clanky, banging, jingle-jangle, clangoring annoying monsters.
I cringe
During wind storms I have to take tylenol pm so I can get to sleep.
I’m regretting buying our first wind chime-
Now, I have to place a pillow over my head to block out the tinkling sounds but too no avail they creep through my pillow anyways.
I’m trapped with the incessant din of these chimes, while BB ejoys the sounds immensely. He looks forward to wind storms and lays awake all night listening in complete awh.
I’m wondering if our next door neighbors are annoyed as much as I am by our wind chimes.
Yeeks……..LOL Maybe accidently remove the two biggest ones….. I know what you mean, I have to have it dark and quiet in order to SLEEP……….smile

too much of a good thing? I’ve got a HUGE chime in storage as I think it’d get ripped-off here at the RV park… got it by Zion park… like 4′ tubes about 1 1/2″ in diameter… sounds like church bells when the wind blows mmmmmmmmmmm nice! 🙂

your pictures are very beautiful. i love the sound of windchimes, but agree too many can’t be a good thing. i’m also very particular about the tinkling noise of the wind chimes that i buy. my windchimes always break after a season or so. maybe yours will too? 😉

this cracks me up. i, too, love wind chimes. maybe could you place them in different trees? my favorite ones are the ones that are made of bamboo, but they are too silent for me to hear over my others. your back yard looks wonderful, though. =).

ha, they probably are! beautiful tree!!!

Your neighbors have a web site with the title, KILL THE WINDCHIMERS

I thought it was going to be a joke..*snickering..* I am sorry *trying to wipe my grin off of my face*

I actually hate windchimes. Don’t know why, just always have. Perfectly innocuous (unless you have FIVE IN ONE TREE like you, you crazy girl! 😉 ), but there you go. Don’t like bird feeders either. Which is strange, because I DO like birds and wind. 🙂

LOL at nsrider……I’m sorry that I am laughing at your misery but that is really very funny.

I always thought if 1 was good, 2 must be better, and 3 even better than that. Maybe I was wrong……

Are they easy enough to take down at night? We used to have some on our back porch and I took them off their hooks when it stormed badly.

Your backyard is gorgeous!

My gosh, that tree is gorgeous! During wind storms I have to take tylenol pm so I can get to sleep. Now, this statement made me laugh out loud! They are pretty though. Just can’t shut ’em up!

I have a few windchimes to, just enough to not drive me mad. My neighbor has the deep-sounding kind while mine are the high sounding kind. They sound so pretty together. Here’s a thought: take some of your chimes down. 😉 You do have a lovely yard. Install a pond.

ryn, YES! I request DVD’s all the time and it is a great system. They send them from one library to mine at the click of my mouse. Sometimes you gotta love the government.

LOL! I LOVE windchimes! Am listening to mine as I write this! But if you’re having to stuff your ears with cotton balls and take sleep aids to get any rest, they may be a bit much (?) What I wonder is: what do the neighbors think??? LOL

ear plugs?????

Oh man. I get this. We’ve got at least five of them in the backyard and one in the front too. Four of them are huge melodic noisy things. But the neighbor’s dog drowns out the sound, so…..

I enjoy wind chimes, have about 20 of them and they make the best music…smiling
